LUX* Grand Gaube Resort & Villas

There's nothing I did not like. Lux Grande Gaube is simply outstanding! I've stayed in many resorts in Mauritius but none of them compare to Lux GG. I look forward to going there every year.

I actually can't think of anything that can be improved on. I was impressed with it all.

Extraordinary place with exceptional people and service. If you are looking for a luxury holiday with great food, service and the iconic Mauritius island experience, this is the place for you. We loved it and would definitely want to go back!

The beach was amazing. The restaurants were above expectation. Room was very comfortable. Kids club is the one of the best things about this hotel, really great staff, really interesting activities. The staff in general were really great, really helpful. The beach activities (kayaking, paddle boarding, glass boat tour) were both free and really accessible, we really enjoyed these. In general the activities and amenities that are included were really nice, you can spend a hour of time at the hotel and not be bored, many things offered, like the cinema and music in the evenings.

The only part of the facility that can be better is the gym, it was a bit small, but still a good gym - we used it many times. Otherwise the facilities were great.

Lovely property, generally the staff were nice, especially Ashwan at breakfast. I particularly enjoyed the food at BB's, the Bourdin Blue, and the buffet at the Palm Court.  However, I found the dinner options at Beach Rouge and Creole Smokehouse to be just average. The lunch menu at the smokehouse offered better choices (smokehouse esq) than dinner, which primarily consisted of curries. I think some of the lunch options could be a great addition to the dinner menu. There was also a variety of activities to participate in, I enjoyed the yoga and found the I-Photography workshop helpful.

The cleanliness of the rooms could be greatly improved. There were numerous scuff marks and stains on the walls and phone that could have been cleaned. I also unfortunately had to deal with tiny ants throughout my stay. The first time I called, housekeeping came and sprayed the impacted areas that night. However, the next morning, I awoke to more ants that had now gotten into my suitcase. I called guest services, and they said they'd have housekeeping do a deep cleaning, but ants remained. I also participated in the Rum Experience, which I did not enjoy. I believe that activity is not suitable for children. Although the property itself was nice, the quality of the room is enough for me to choose a different property if I ever visit Mauritius in the future.
