spectacular place, great spa experience, staff were the real icing on the cake. Snorkeling and bird watching were great too. beautiful rooms and views
could have more vegan/vegetarian options listed in the menu. for example substitution was done only when we asked. from the beach villas swimming pool access was tricky.

Totally enjoyed the beach villa. The staff was superb and very friendly. Food was also very good and plenty.

It was a unique experience staying in the national forest and the facilities were perfect for the nature of our stay. We enjoyed all our meals on the sea and the staff were very attentive and weloming. Massages over the mangroves were peaceful and a real treat.
Nothing.

The setting and design of menjangan is wonderful, set in the forest and on the sea overlooking Java. The pool is great and free shuttles between the tower restaurant or beach restaurant is good. Both are different, the tower has a great seating area on the two top floors. The beach restaurant is small and very ambient tucked in the mangroves over the sea. We had a great time despite the rain, and the staff were above and beyond helpful. I would go back but in the dry season.
The plumbing needs some upgrading. There is also a small amount of plastic washing up on the beach. The coral off the jetty is damaged but despite that I saw a remarkable number of tropical fish there (incl batfish, lionfish, octopus, quite big clams), but I didn’t take the trip to Menjangan island where the best snorkelling is to be had).

Beautiful location - nature reservation, untouched, lots of birds and animals-
Was quite the long ride and sadly quite a bit of rain for us this year

Villa was spacious, comfortable, cozy. Two restaurants, one right on the water. Snorkel right off the jetty. Monkeys were cheeky but entertaining, very kind and friendly staff. Always available for whatever you may need. Shuttle bus was always available and easy between locations.
Nothing. Just be aware that the villas are not on a sandy beach. Rather scrubby, rocky, dry environment. It is in a national park, so natural area with monkeys to watch. Be aware there are two separate locations to stay. Monsoon lodge and villas. Shuttle bus .

If you are looking for a vacation far away from crowded beaches, this is the destination. You are welcomed by the most thoughtful and friendly staff imaginable who will do their utmost to accommodate you on your stay. Even the 'basic' room is large in comparison to other hotels and thoughtfully equipped with everything you need. Cleaning is done twice a day and the staff always leaves little details for you to find. The beachside villas are even grander and offer your own stretch of beach directly next to the sea. Even if you are not staying at the villas there exist a private stretch of beach for you to enjoy which is not crowded at all. If you want to go snorkeling, there exist a coral reef directly next to the beach. If you are lucky you may even spot a turtle there. The food in the restaurants was excellent, especially the sea food.
As this is in the national park, you will also be able to spot many of its denizens, although the monkeys can come particularly close, but they wont bother you if you dont have food (so no bartering for stolen sunglasses).
To get from the normal rooms to the beach you need to wait for a cart to pick you up (You can call anytime for a pickup). This can be seen as an inconvenience, but it is well worth it for the unique location inside the national park.
Monkeys will be monkeys and you will develop something of a conscience about their whereabouts around you. But its their national park and you will manage to absolutely relax regardless.

Good choice of activities; breakfast and dinner by the beach were great, We had a health problem (not caused by our stay there), and the staff was very helpful and attentive to our needs. We enjoyed very much the special organized balinese dinner, with a nice dance performance.

Beach Villas are so beautiful and peaceful. Beware of the monkeys, lock all the doors. Then the nature gives you an unforgettable show with unexpected animals showing up and the sea always breathtaking surrounded by the mangrove. The hotel offers free shuttles to navigate through the park and the different facilities, very useful and convenient.
The restaurant is great with home made jam and croissants to die for at breakfast.
A jewel overall.

This is not the usual hotel we normally stay in. It was a "treat" stay for us
The suite was lovely. Roomy. The beds and couches very comfortable. Air con cold. The pool looked great.
Staff are very friendly and helpful.
We only stayed one night as a base for menjanang Island. I liked the water stations and refill bottles situated in the rooms as well as around the resort . Excellent idea.
We had one really nice meal. One not so good.
Snorkelling off the jetty was nice. The water there was clean and a few fish around.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience.
With an expensive hotel comes expensive prices. Whilst Im happy to pay for good food, some of the food we had was so bland. $17 million before tax for a small mie goreng that was just indo mie and chicken and egg and 14 million for 5 pieces of calamari which had a very strange texture ... hmmm. Australian price.

The nature, the food THE STAFF!!!! Were EXCEPTIONAL!
The surrounding snorkeling / scuba diving is great, value for money, everything was just fantastic.
Because it’s a spot for explorers, ecologists, people who want to get up and going the hotel is quite quiet as of 9 am and post 8:00 pm but if you into peace and wuiet and your own space then paradise.

The staff were lovely, great experiences on offer, staff went above and beyond, and were well trained. Food and drinks were exceptional, facilities, such as the pool and the beach. No litter in resort, amazing location, and the tower was outstanding. Great for birdwatching and wildlife, and preserving the conservation in Bali.
Nothing.

The wood tower is beautiful and the breakfast is great.
This place wasn't great and not a good price/quality ratio. It's expensive to book for a room and everything else is 3 times the normal price. The food at the restaurant is super expensive and not of good quality. The last day we found a yummy restaurant in the city for a third of the price. The place is beautiful but we regretted booking there as it's not worth the price and distance from the main things. We would have had a better time in a still fancy beach resort near the city.

Good food. Fantastic snorkelling just a short boat ride from your bed.
I liked everything, but our room might have needed a bit of tlc. It needed a bit of freshening up I guess.

This is a wonderful place. Beautiful lodges and amazing views and the staff are fantastic. The food was also excellent. They really emphasis the importance of the forest and of being as environmentally friendly as you can be with refillable water facilities and refillable shampoo etc. It is quite expensive in Indonesian terms but really worth every penny.

Quite expensive comparatively to the Indonesian standard.

Beach accommodation was excellent with a lovely view and a comfortable super king bed. We enjoyed seeing the deer wondering along the beach.
The trips to Menjangan Island provided some of the best snorkeling we have ever experienced and our guide Sunar was fantastic.
The staff in general are very helpful and friendly.
The monkeys are very mischievous but we got used to them.

Very nice a la carte breakfast. The safari shuttle service between the beach, jetty, bali tower etc was very smooth. Dive operators could pick up at the jetty and the Menjangan Island is just 15 minutes with the diveboat. Wildlife very close up. Birds, deer, a lot of crab-eating macaque monkeys.
The roads are safari grade pothole bonanza but there is are reason why they won't fix the roads, making it difficult for poachers to do hit and runs. The beach is very sensitive to the tide, but snorkeling from the jetty is always possible.

The beach villa was absolutely beautiful, with very welcoming staff. We highly recommend the snorkelling, we went on two trips with Wayan, who was an amazing guide, and saw many different fish as well as multiple turtles. We also recommend the cooking class with Putu, who is so knowledgeable and a great chef.
The monkeys around the beach villa can be troublesome but the hotel does warn everyone to keep their doors locked and the monkeys were not often there.

The hotel's location is truly exceptional, nestled in the heart of the national park. For our family, we had the residence, each with wonderfully attentive and charming personal staff. The view is fantastic, and the pool is perfect for relaxing while enjoying the scenery.
Overall, the staff is extraordinarily friendly and accommodating. Everything we participated in or booked as part of the program was impressively well-organized. We would return anytime.
Sometimes, the monkeys can be a little mischievous—once, they even stole our breakfast! But the staff is always vigilant in keeping them away from the breakfast tables. A little adventure included! 😊

Was an oasis in the national park. Breakfasts were good. Great to be able to snorkel off the jetty whenever we felt like it. Also great to see so much wildlife. Rooms and service were lovely. Staff sorted everything we asked for promptly (bird watching your, national park tour, snorkelling…)
Catching the bus between accommodation and jetty/tower/restaurant got a bit annoying, however it was set up well with buses running constantly.

A great place to chillax. The room was nice and very comfortable, the beach restaurant was great, and everyone was nice and helpful. The The only reason for 9 out of 10 was the activity amenities, because I’m not good at chillaxing and like to be on the move. The snorkeling is poor (bad visibility, limited coral and fish compared to so many other places in Indonesia), the rented kayaks had no seats which makes them almost impossible to use), and there is a beach but going in the water is not recommended. There is a fitness course trail that was pleasant if you don’t mind working out in the heat and humidity. There is a bamboo tower (5 stories) offers great views. Don’t miss the pool table on the third floor (we didn’t know about it until the morning we were leaving). If you like birds and looking for other wildlife, a private tour is offered, although we didn’t know about our own tour with a Ranger from the national park.

Food was good, but not extraordinary

We are regular visitors at Menjangan and always enjoy the location, facilities and activities - it's great for the snorkeling, horse riding, cycling and wild life - as well as total relaxation.
Sadly we were disappointed on this occasion by the quality of the food. We really feel that for the expense of the property it could have been much better. Seems like the food was prepared by a cook rather than a 'chef'. It's not that the food was bad, just not overly exciting, well presented or cooked particularly well considering the price.
With the exception of breakfast and one evening meal, we chose to eat lunch and dinner at the Octagon.

This is a classy resort situated within the West Bali National Park. We stayed in the Monsoon Lodge which had a spacious bedroom and bathroom with excellent facilities. The resort had a beach restaurant and a tree-canopy tower restaurant which were both superb. Chefs and waiters went out of their way to address our dietary requirements. All staff were very friendly and professional. We requested a birdwatching trek and a jungle trek, and were lucky enough both times to be assigned the very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide Alet.

peaceful and relaxing. lovely room and lovely staff
Limited to the resort to eat as there are no restaurants close by but the resort food was delicious so not really a huge issue

The staff were excellent - GilGil was always nearby to provide any assistance needed and every request (mainly for activity bookings etc) was responded to very quickly.
We upgraded to beach cottages on arrival and they were superb.
All food and drinks were very good.
Only slight downside was that the beach directly in front of the rooms, while very pretty and a great spot for reading, snoozing or watching the monkeys, deer and other animals wandering past, isn't really suitable for swimming as the sea there is extremely shallow. A better spot for swimming is just a few minutes' walk away next to the jetty.
