Hotel Hellstens Malmgård

We loved the historic feeling, the wooden floors and stone stairs ,the tranquility, the central location, the breakfast-room in the cellar with its vaulted ceiling, the outdoor spaces where you could go and sit at any time, and the 24/7 access to the coffee machine! Also, the friendly staff, very helpful. Isaac was the person we had most contact with, but everybody was extremely nice. Beds are very comfortable. Ooh, and the view over the city from the nearby park, the sunset- priceless! There is a lift, which we appreciated, because we had a lot of luggage.

If you are looking for a big, spacious modern hotel room, this is not for you. The rooms are small, but this is a 250 year old building, and was built like this. The bathroom is also small, but clean and has everything you need. I missed a fridge, but really, there is no place for it.

Ambiance of a historic building

There was no sign of any kind that said hotel or entrance. The cobblestone courtyard was a hindrance to walking and carrying luggage. It could be solved by extending a flat walkway to the gate. Since there is no on-site parking, there should be better directions to parking or more clear instructions how to park on the street without getting a ticket. These are simple things that can be done to increase the comfort and convenience of this otherwise charming hotel.

The staff are super friendly, service-minded, helpful and lovely. The location is good as well. It is cute and charming. Great location.

The floor is so incredibly dirty, it was very off-putting. I understand there are old fashioned plank floors but oh dear it freaked me out. Otherwise it was clean, the bathroom was clean. The duvets are incredibly thin. We had to put the heater on. There are "skjeggkre", I saw them in the basement.
