Quirky and cosy, so close to town. More like an older bach and great for families

This is a quirky place that is much more like staying at your friends old family batch than a motel room. They seem to have tried to provide everything they could think of, including a rice cooker! Travelling as 1 adult and 3 children it is tricky to find a single unit that fits us, but the unusual layout in a family unit worked well for us. I love that it is an old fashioned, family run motel in a great location.

The no contact check-in did feel a little impersonal and meant I didn't feel I could disturb them on the first night when I found the TV was not working. They were great when I buzzed them the next afternoon to let them know the hairdryer had given up the ghost and asked them to fix the tv. The Booking.com photo is very out of date. The building looks much older in real life and the top floor is for the private use of the family, not part of the motel. That's the back yard that is showing and it now has a barked area with a couple of picnic tables, and older trampoline, a shared clothes line, and a barbeque.

PRIME LOCATION WITH COMFORT FOR A NOT OVERLY PRICED STAY.

Lee & Jim are always beautiful hosts. My wife, myself & our fur baby have stayed here plentiful times to where we've ALWAYS BEEN accommodated for well!! Rooms are always clean, comfy & you can't forget the prime location...Paihia. Unfortunately there is no air conditioning, however they have fans to accommodate for this - maybe in the future this might be a thing. In saying that, it's never really bothered us 🙂 I personally always love a stay right beside the ocean or not too far as love hearing the sound of the water. At Tui Motel, you can hear the water clearly late at night. Don't got any photos of our stay, however have never really got any over the few years of going here

Don't have an oven to cook a roast or anything, however it's called improvise with what you've got. Go use the free BBQ in town if you've got a bother

Disgustingly dirty, smelly and run down.

The motel is located just a very short walk from the waterfront, shops, cafés and restaurants of Paihia.

The motel is run down, dirty and very poorly maintained. My room stank of a stale smell, possibly from some years of smoking inside. I didn't notice until the later evening when I closed up door and windows. It was so disgusting that I ended up sleeping in my car parked just outside. The microwave oven was an absolute mess. Splatter with encrusted food all around the inside. On arrival, names are chalked on a board, so the owners/managers don't have to meet guests. The photo is incredibly misleading. This place is horrid. I would not recommend it to anyone, unless you are absolutely desperate.

Fridge was not working , our birthday cake was melted and very disappointed we can provide you the photos. We have informed the host he don’t even acknowledge that. Carpet was dirty enough that my toddler was not even kept on the floor. We are scared There was no body wash.

Completely affordable

A Good, budget Beach Hotel - would stay again

Having 2 separate bedrooms is rare, and nice to have, and with fans (no AC). There was a fifth, single bed in the living space, along with a small sofa, table and 4 chairs. The kitchenette was pretty nice, well-furnished, too. We didn't use it too much, but it had a generous supply of dishes, food prep ware, utensils, etc. Even salt/pepper & oil! Fridge good. Bathroom was decent sized, with large bottles of amenities available. Service was kind and helpful. Older building, but all was working.

WIFI didn't work on all our devices, but some worked fine. All parking is parallel (but close to the room). The office is managed remotely, so you can't just walk into it - but they answer calls promptly, generally.

Nice overnight stay on our 1 month tour around both islands.

Had an overnight stay after a long wet motorbike ride. Unit had everything we needed for a good nights sleep, able to cook our meal. Close to town and the local supermarket. Everything was clean and tidy. Thee was a bbq to use, but it was too wet for us.

The property is great! Everything you need is available in the room. We have now stayed 3 times in 2 weeks because of how comfortable a stay we had there. Great hosts who are so accommodating with our request to park our boat. The rooms are clean and I was impressed with having a plunger coffee pot available. Beds are comfortable and location is perfect. Just a short walk to all the shops. Will definitely be back to stay!
