Super clean, beautiful surroundings, lots of flowers and fruit trees, temperamental weather that was a curiosity and very attractive.

Evenso appealing if you seek an indoor holiday, the weather was cruelly cold, wet, with wild winds; and an hour’s bus trip to the city - most unwelcoming after a few days. Without a heavy raincoat, warm head gear, and a solid umbrella, outings to Salzburg became almost impossible to manage given the 7 - 10 minute walk to bus stop, and I am a fast walker. Told to take off my shoes the moment I walked in. Food was the same from 2/8-7/8 so if you don’t mind quality small goods served with what tastes like stale rolls, only one boiled egg brought in after about 20 minutes of sitting in the small dining room, no hot food at all, and poor quality coffee, over five days, you’ll be OK. Cereals looked very uninviting. No fruit at all unless you pick yourself from fruit trees, which I did. Personally I found the smiley, well dressed host too uptight most days for any quiet comfortable conversations. Youngest daughter makes jewellery and you feel bad if you don’t buy from them. Son drove tractor, mowed lawn in first two days, so I instantly had the feeling I won’t enjoy a peaceful rest absorbing ‘The Sound of Music’, but forced instead to listen to unexpected gyrating machinery. And with WiFi that almost never worked, God help you if the ‘Hotspot’ on your mobile phone fails and you haven’t a good book with jolly content to keep ‘evil spirits’ away. Coming into my room to turn off lights and tell me not to leave inbuilt inefficient oil heater on when outside of the room, was a shock. For the advertised price I think this facility, given its location, quality of food, and hospitality to someone who travelled all the way to Salzburg from Australia for The Music Festival, is not value for money: 6/10.

We really enjoyed our stay. Hochegg is a very nice place with amazing view and owners are very nice and friendly, willing to help all the time. It’s calm and cozy pleace. We highly recommend to visit it downthere.

I would appreciate wifi password available on a lable in the room and courtaines on the window at the toilet. One corner of the bed was i bit broken and very sharp so we had to cover it to avoid injuries else everything was perfect and we loved the place!!!
