Hotel Château de la Barbinière

Before I traveled I had to rebook and the hotel was understanding, and compromising with my request. I found the room very comfortable, there was three of us in the room, plenty of room.. The pool was lovely to cool off in for a few hours, especially in the red heat. Finally the breakfast was good. I really couldn’t fault my experience I’d absolutely would go back again.

We were not in the main hotel. The room was very good. The grounds were beautiful. Lovely swimming pool, Had a meal in the nice bar. Cheaper food chosen as fine dining n the main restarant didn't suit our needs. Sadly only a small menu but the food was excellent. This hotel was possibly the best we have eve stayed in.

When we booked the hotel the price was fixed on the booking.com site but when we paid it was a different price for the second night. It was explained that the price varies each day

The property is absolutely spectacular and well kept! The staff is pleasant.

The restaurant... None of the food was to our liking (with the exception of the dessert!). The decor was distasteful and the equipment cheap. The pricing was high and did not match the food nor the setting.

There is major construction happening at the hotel (due to complete sometime in 2027) which I wasn’t aware of prior to booking. Our room looked over a construction site and the only restaurant/bar area also did the same. I wanted to splash out for a night on a nice hotel to break up our trip and chose this one based on the pictures, as well as the restaurant. Turns out the restaurant wasn’t open so had to eat at the creperie which had 3 non-crepe options (burger etc). The staff were overwhelmed and we waited ages for mains before being asked if we wanted dessert, as turns out the mains were forgotten. The room wasn’t what I was expecting from the pictures and wasn’t clean - there were clumps of hair on the floor and the toilet had marks on it. I expressed my disappointment to front desk about this after check in and they said they would speak to management, and I didn’t hear anything further. I have stayed in many many hotels and was disappointed with this one.
