Mansfield Private Reserve

The location was beautiful. We really enjoyed being able to go on self-led game drives, see the animals up close, and go 4x4ing on the designated 4x4 trail. The view from the cabin was exquisite! The complementary rusks and sherry were a nice touch.

The cabin is a bit run down, and requires some maintenance. One door doesn’t have a blind, and as it was full moon, we didn’t sleep very well. The water pump was very loud and disturbing. There’s a flight school nearby, and the planes flying overhead all day until 10 pm, disturbs the peace somewhat. The lighting in the cabin is very dim, making reading/playing games in the evening difficult. Only 1 of the 3 provided paraffin lamps was functional.

Loved the calmness and the little things like tea, coffee, wood and some rusks.

The fireplace at the cottage never had an option of being closed so everything rained wet.

While the location had potential, there were a few aspects that affected our stay. The office is attached to the house, and we could hear conversations and phone calls from the adjacent room, which impacted privacy. Staff also come in and out on the driveway... to I suspect for work. The property felt quite old and could benefit from better maintenance, particularly in the kitchen and bathrooms where there was visible mould. Because of this, we did not feel comfortable using the showers. Unfortunately, the photos did not fully reflect the current condition of the property, which was disappointing. Due to these factors, we chose to leave a day earlier than planned.
