Handy location, nice restaurant, spacious clean rooms.

It’s a very grand building with a fantastic entrance and feel about it
It’s incredibly weathered and difficult to navigate it’s age unfortunately plays against it
4.0 / 10.0
Looked great and welcomed when got there and clean enough
Rooms were about 30 degrees sweatbox, and all night room 103 sounded like there was a waterfall flooding our room every half hour, adding to the fact 103 is right outside the lift, hardly slept a wink with people shouting all night coming out lifts. I actually thought there was a burst pipe in room with noise of water, Alsocame back around 950pm and bars open till 11pm but stood at bar and nobody in sight, so had to ask at reception and was told someone should be there, but again nearly 10 mins passed before a girl came in and said she was putting bins out, then she took ages to serve each drink and was around 15 mins before she had served the 3 customers who had arrived

Great city centre location, clean and comfortable hotel, greeted by friendly staff.
Bathrooms could do with an update

Location was great for attending His Majesty’s theatre . Some of the staff were great. Others not so as you will see in my comment below
The lady that checked us in was not very helpful at all. We arrived at 1.30 , knowing that check in wasn’t until 2pm, but we have found with other hotels they will look and check to see if any rooms are ready at that point but she just wasn’t even interested in checking. She took our bags to store. Put tags on them , didn’t give us anything to give her when we came back to check in only to see that anyone was going into the store cupboard at the door to get out bags so anyone could have taken them! Then while checking in I noticed one room was 225 the other 410 which I automatically realised were on different floors . I mentioned that I had put in a request for the rooms to be as close together as possible. She said there was nothing on the booking. I said I definitely put in that request. She then said that would be subject to availability. She didn’t even attempt to see if there was anything closer. We then went to look at 225 which was a lovely room. I then checked out 410 which I found was not only 2 floors up but the opposite end of the hotel. I then went back to reception and asked again if there was anything that could be done. I said I would upgrade the standard room to deluxe if that would help but again the same girl didn’t even try. I pleaded with her to look so she said she had one on the 3rd floor that wasn’t as good. I asked what the difference was , she got a folder out and said it’s 2 single beds. I said that’s what 410 has so can I please change. She then gave me a new key but didn’t tell me the new room number so I kindly asked, she took the key card folder, scored out 410 and wrote 310! I didn’t then say what I was thinking but when I went up to 310 my thoughts were proved correct. It was exactly the same room just one floor down! I actually laughed .

The twin room was very small, there was very little room to move about. There was also no view from our room window but the fantastic breakfast and perfect location made up for that.
The room was very small.

Location
Tired look abc breakfast was appalling

The room was obviously cleaned by someone who takes pride in what they do. While the room was dated and tired, everything was clean, dust free and there were no lingering smells
It is tired. The building is obviously cared for by the staff but it has that feeling of being slowly run down

Good location that's all. Nothing 4 star about this hotel
Tired, and not very clean Book yourself a 3 Star national chain hotel as much better standards.

The location is perfect in the centre of Aberdeen just off the Main Street and has a wonderful view of the gardens and the theatre from our room. Our room was clean and comfortable and spacious we stayed in the burns suite that was beautiful.
The rooms felt very cold even with the heating on full blast. However it was very cold weather when we stayed. Also wouldn’t recommend the breakfast it had a good range of options but wasn’t very nice but I’ve also had much worse.

Terrific location right in the heart of town in a beautiful belle époque building
Probably the coldest hotel I’ve stayed in outside Nepal, the heating was almost non existent in the middle of a winter blast. Breakfast ends strangely quite early, the shower dripped water everywhere and the toiletries were channeling mid-90s vibes. Please, please renovate this place, it will be incredible but for now, it’s no more than a 2-star.

Great central location, room as clean, bed was comfy and huge.
Bathroom was a good size and spotless.
Just a few niggles.
We stayed in the Gordon Suite, I felt it wasn't a suite, just a big room with a couple of chairs. Was looking forward to lounging on a sofa (which was why I booked a suite)
A couple of the lamps only work if you put the big light on (which defeats the point of having lamps)
And the middle curtains don't close properly,(curtain rail doesn't overlap) ended up asking reception it they had a clip I could use to keep it shut (they didn't)

3rd time staying at the hotel - Central location, friendly staff.
Experienced a few issues that were quickly resolved , by the help desk of staff.

Good location
I booked a deluxe double room but failed to find anything deluxe about it. The mattress didn’t fit the bed, it was hanging over the sides. Ordered a cocktail from the bar that I had to wait ages on despite being the only people at the bar and when the cocktail arrived it wasn’t what was on the menu.
Got woken at 4am with other people banging doors and shouting in the rooms next to us.

The hotel, whilst an older building is in a good state of repair and the staff I had contact with were good people people.
My bedroom entry light didn’t seem to work - but there were plenty others in the room

Convenient location for the station and attractive setting overlooking landscaped city gardens.
Characterful old building.
Receptionist helpful when I had a query.
It would benefit from investment. The threadbare carpet on the main stairs is one obvious issue.
Not obvious how the shower worked.
The hash brown and black pudding in the cooked breakfast were soaked in oil.
3.0 / 10.0
Location for city centre.
Bed on wheels had to stuff pillows under wheels to keep bed in place.
Wife fell out of the bed due to bed being on wheels.
Lampshade over pillow, so hitting face constantly.
No sound proofing, can hear television from room either side of our room plus nightclub outside building till 3am.
Rude staff.
Uninterested staff members.
Car park down a unlit lane with no cctv.

Good bed and a big Room

The central location to the city centre, very spacious room looking over union terrace gardens, we didn’t have breakfast as we went out for brunch, only small issue was the cost of the drinks in the lounge bar
Beverages could have been less expensive, and cheaper car parking rates would make things a lot better other than that no complaints

A return visit to this hotel and stayed in the suite on this occasion which was great.

The location of this hotel was excellent.
The Bar was very nice & one of the finest points of the hotel.
The Caledonian wpuld have been a choice hotel back in the day.
Like many hotels of that ilk & era, it cpuld be doing with a bit ofba makeover.
Just seemed a bit tired & whilst adewuate for my stay, some of my friends who stayed in more recent hotel chains said their hotels were a bit more chipper :-).

Good location, clean, lovely old staircase, good breakfast selection.
Room and bathroom dated but we did have a very cheap offer so can’t complain for a one night stay.

Breakfast was great. Room was big and comfortable. Enjoyed our stay. Staff kept our luggage safe before we checked in and after check out which was very helpful. So handy with everywhere on union street and union square.
The nightclub outside was very noisy. Not much sound proofing. No mention of an earlier check-in which would have been nice as the boat gets in so early.

Location
In disrepair, lack of natural light, overheating fridges, loud floorboards, paper thin walls, old room service trays lying in hallways for hours.

A little tired stair carpets
