Friendly pub with great breakfast

We have stayed a number of times and it was nice to see Richard, the landlord again. He makes sure that our stay is stress-free. He ensured the breakfast options were available for our party, which included small soya milk sachets for my wife in the bedroom for her tea aswell as large carton for breakfast. On this occasion we needed a second room for other family members which he kindly sourced a cot. The rooms are above a friendly pub which was ideal for us to meet up with other relatives in the evening.

Bed was very comfortable. Linen clean and fresh. Good internet. Clean bathroom. Breakfast was good - buffet and cooked all included. Plenty of local pubs and restaurants for lunch or evening meal within a short walk. On site parking. Richard kindly upgraded us at no extra cost as there was another larger room available.

Only downside is they don't serve food other than breakfast but options available nearby.

A very friendly place to stay in Halstead

We had a wonderful stay in Halstead. Richard was a great host, and we enjoyed having a drink in the bar with the locals, and choosing their suggestion of a place to eat dinner (the Turkish restaurant nearby is fantastic!) Our room was small but comfortable (we knew this; it was the only one left when we booked), and good value for money. A lovely breakfast to set us up for our trip the next day.

Room was clean and well presented A bit small and very hot but had a fan in the room witch helped a little bit and look a bit tired on decoration We had a lovely welcoming was allowed in to our room early which was very nice Our son had a twin room which was lovely We would recommend the dog inn if you are staying for a weekend for a wedding etc Breakfast was the best I’ve had using great produce

One of the best of fourteen holiday nights spent!

The way I was treated as a guest. Everything was so cared for, clean and neatly arranged. The owner was very friendly. (Photo: view from bedroom.) Halstead is a nice little town, e.g. with interesting antiques centre.

Nothing to blame the owner, but to leave the parking was dangerous due to passing traffic and hardly any sight right/left. Advice: trust people walking by, who know the situation and give the helpful "You can go!" signal.
