The Mitre, Hampton Court

Great location. Interesting building. Nice decor. Clean. Good breakfast. Nice added touches such as a small teddy for our baby son. Comfortable bed. Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely view from breakfast room. Free wine on arrival most welcome after long journey.

Extra charge of £40 for a travel cot when not a cheap hotel in the first place. Room far too hot and only fan available was rubbish/ineffective and couldn’t be plugged in by the bedside as no plug socket that would fit the plug. Room too dimly lit for doing make up prior to a wedding. Not very accessible with a pram, needed help up and down stairs on each occasion of leaving the room.

Every member of staff brilliant. Comfy bed and lovely linen. Superb food, a real gem.

Noise from library late at night

The location was perfect for our visit to Hampton Court. The hotel was well presented with a variety of communal areas to relax in, including a library, and beautiful terrace area overlooking the river. The bedroom was spacious with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Little extras included a welcome drink on arrival and fresh made lemon and earl grey shortbread. The staff were so friendly making us feel welcome from the moment we stepped through the door till we checked out. Nothing was too much trouble. The food on offer was good quality and cooked to perfection.

Nothing , just wished we’d booked more than one night !!

Lots to like about this hotel ie location, friendly and welcoming staff in all areas but especially in breakfast room, glass of wine on arrival, clean/comfortable bed and pillows, good breakfast and enjoyable evening meal in the restaurant.

What we didn't like was the parking situation which we gave up on and used the railway station car park over the bridge, £8.70 per 24hrs. Another issue for us was the bathroom (room 206) chipped paint along the shelf above the basin, chipped paint on toilet seat, water damage on bath panel due to badly fitting shower screen and the worst was the unsightly unhygienic carpet/floor covering on the bathroom floor which was stained and got soaked after every shower. Also had electric fan on constantly in room as no air conditioning.
