The potholes 😂

The breakfast was a let down. I was not told of a menu for alternatives to the fry up and it was disappointing. The bacon was cold and tough.
Had I known there were alternatives I would have chosen one.
Only breakfast overall

The breakfast was very good.
The views from our bedroom was very nice.
The sauna and steam room were excellent.
We enjoyed all of the facilities and the staff were all ways very helpful.
The toilet would take ages to flush. The shower could have been more powerful. But these were minor problems.

I left early and was charged full price and not refunded. The property is NOT DISABILITY FRIENDLY, the SPA WAS NOT AVAILABLE and they had A FIREWORKS DISPLAY THAT TERRORIZED MY SERVICE ANIMAL.
The place has not refunded me ANYTHING after being a complete FRAUDULENT ADVERTISEMENT

Beautiful hotel
We were in room 101 and the noise from the party below was loud until long past midnight. Also the one side of the mattress had a big dip in it which made it quite uncomfortable to sleep

Everything the staff exceptional
We loved everything We would just suggest that Hot plates be available for the hot food breakfast and perhaps options for cooked eggs .
We feel a better quality toilet paper should be available in rooms.

The hotel is a very lovely period house set in it's own grounds and reached via a long drive. The house is very well maintained and the refurbishments have been very sympathetic. My main observation is that the young staff were all, every single one, absolutely lovely. Motivated and polite. They are clearly well supervised and trained.
The rooms are large, spacious, and well decorated. Theorem rate is not cheap, and I sort of expected a little more, but the bed was incredibly comfortable and we were not using the spa and other facilities offered. The driveway to the parking area needs some maintenance.

Location and Room Facility.
There was a wedding and no one told us during booking! We did ask for quiet room away but our room was not far enough. it was too noisy to sleep until late.
The staff at restaurant and breakfast were dismissive. We had to stop one of them to get tea and almost everyone avoided eye contact fearing someone might ask them something.

Beautiful building with large grounds great for walking
The hotel claims to be dog friendly and makes a big point of this on their website. There were dog treats, a bowl and a dog bed in the bedroom which is nice but the problem arises if you don’t want to leave your dog on its own in the room. Dogs are not allowed into the restaurant and unless it is warm enough to eat outside the only option is the small bar, which is quite functional and not at all lively. Also there is just a bar menu. The same issue arises at breakfast. Dogs are not allowed into the breakfast room, which is perfectly acceptable but no alternative has been provided. The staff really had no interest and pointed to a work area near the breakfast room. There was no effort to set up a seating area and lay places, so I had to get our cutlery etc from a laid table. It wouldn’t take much to get this right but currently it falls short

The room view was beautiful, overlooking the fountain, made for a relaxing stay. The room itself was large with lovely high ceilings. Stunning building all round well thought out themes for restaurant and bars.

The hotel is beautiful
The rooms were stuffy and dated. The staff seemed confused on whether our room included breakfast (I insisted it didn't, they said it did) and we ended up getting charged so I guess I was right.

I recently stayed at Down Hall and had a truly wonderful experience, which is why I was shocked to see that this place has ever received a bad review. The room was amazing, spacious, beautifully decorated, and exceptionally comfortable. The grounds are absolutely stunning, offering plenty of space to relax and enjoy nature. I was particularly impressed to learn that they keep bees and grow their own vegetables, which are then served fresh in the restaurant – such a thoughtful and sustainable touch! The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, attentive, and clearly very hardworking, making the stay even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend Down Hall to anyone looking for a memorable getaway.
I think the spa facilities should be free when you stay.

Beautiful building and place to visit
Staff were not very helpful. Don’t offer to assist with luggage and we’re happy to watch on whilst we moved 8 suitcases with 6 kids in tow through the hotel.
Staff were also more pre-occupied with the weddings which were happening so we were largely ignored. Understaffed at the time.

This historic property is so unique and beautiful. It has tennis courts, helicopter paths and over 100 acres of green land to walk
I wished that I was told that they have a room for families which includes king & a bunk bed

Great property to look at but very worn out.
Very worn out. Wall paper peeling off the walls. The temperature of the room mean to got zero sleep. The shower was filthy upon arrival and simple things that should have been dealt with weren’t - half used damp toilet rolls being left for instance

Nice setting.
Our bedroom carpet was quite badly stained and when the member of staff called to check we were happy with our room I told him about the staines but he did not offer to do anything to try to fix.

We couldn’t check in at 3pm, the room wasn’t ready until 5pm which ruined our plans, the staff couldn’t even look at us when speaking to us, the food wasn’t very nice and the service was poor, the place wasn’t clean and tidy, glasses food plates left for hours.
