Hyll Hotel

Place was lovely I think we were greeted by someone covering reception, she wasn’t very welcoming in fact quite off. It was extremely hot but as our first impression she let the place down. For the rest of the stay all other staff were absolutely fantastic the lady at breakfast had an accent was fantastic & the barman also insisted he brought my drinks outside then continued to have a chat, as we had been recommended to visit a few places he had worked at.

It was lovely, if I owned & had taken the trouble to make the place look as nice little details the room was clean but not spotless, the patio was lovely but untidy drink stains garden were ok but a little extra love would take this to another level & well deserved. Beautiful but unless someone looks at the finer details could easily start to look shabby.

Location and Old part of the Hotel were lovely. Cuisine was excellent = except for Chicken that had ridiculously large (not very tasty) portions. Staff were very friendly and tea or drink service in the lounge was lovely.

Hotel sacrifices practicaility for aesthetics in the new rooms. 1. Rooms in the extension were all painted in a tasteful DARK hrown - including the ceilings - that makes it almost impossible to see the coffee maker let alone get dressed. Please paint the ceilings a light color! 2. Light fixtures are very tasteful and small. Bed area needs at le3ast ONE Bright Light in the main room! Note: Closets and Bathrooms are very well lit but NOT the main room. 3. Fire Alarm went off for no reason in the middle of the night and there was no way to contact the front desk (no phones in the rooms). No staff came to reassure guests after alarm was turned off. 4. Hotel did not make clear when booking which rooms were in the extension (i.e. NOT in the Old Building). 5. WiFi coverge was quite variable in the extension. Suggestion: The owners should stay in each room to validate Lighting and WiFi etc.
