absolutely awful breakfast, probably the worst I have ever witnessed The heating didn't work for 2 days and was ignored by the staff initially, but I only got a new room after complaining 3 times Awful lighting in rooms, extremely dark even with all lights turned on Although the room was large, it was just empty with a tiny tv on the opposite side, 5 meters from the sofa, so impossible to watch windows which let in cold air

The location was very good if you have a car. If you like to walk it's a bit out the way from the town centre. The breakfast wasn't excellent however it was enjoyable. Biggest issue was the lack of staff...the girl on her own who ran reception..bar and food service was outstanding. She was let down by a colleague. The kitchen produced food for the evening menu quickly and very tasty. All in all a excellent stay

There was nothing that I didn't like. There was a few issues that ould have been improved though. A back up member of staff to help out. Better scrambled eggs as these were very dry. Individual bedside lights

Was lovely to have the surprise of an upgraded room. Good value for money.

The self check in didn't work and there was only one member of staff covering the bar, restaurant and reception so it took ages to check in. Very limited options on the hot breakfast. Now the room, lovely and spacious however the aerial in the TV was broken, I managed to fix it. The sink tap spat water everywhere, the light above the mirror didn't work and was flashing all night. We were kept awake by the fire door outside the room banging all night long. The toilet flush was temperamental. It was very cold even with the heaters on

When I booked I requested a room suitable for disabled guest which was not provided. The hot breakfast was included but the plates were cold

The location was perfect and staff friendly.

The hairs in and around the bathroom had to give it a clean before showering.

The room was big and clean, the bed was really comfy. The hotel was very quiet.

The room was a long walk from reception. Breakfast was underwhelming. Not much choice and food wasn’t topped up quickly enough.

Everything was great about this place, Staff, breakfast, restaurant, peaceful room, Will be staying here next year .

Very friendly reception staff making check in easy and straightforward. Parking included (just put your reg into the system) and a great breakfast too. Room was very comfortable and clean. Location was very good for a local family party. Great value for money.

I don’t want to complain but I have to! We have stayed only one night but the was plenty. When we arrived we need to wait long to someone approach us. We came don’t for a dinner. We asked whether fish and chips is frozen- man by the bar had no idea saying if we want him to as the chef- we said yes for this amount of money. He came back saying all food is frozen except pizzas…. I order pizza then. My wife asked for chicken meal but we have told that they’re run out of chicken in whole restaurant at 6.30 pm on Saturday night… also when I want to pay bar man gone to look after people who wanted to check in. When he finally came back to me- forgot what he was doing, forgot that he did not give me drinks… When I wanted to pay by cash- he said WE DO NOT DO CASH ! since when in this country? Most of the time we see that man on his mobile phone while his bar cover was covered in splash of beer. Also next to us table had 6 used coffee cups - they were there when we arrived and when we lext.. While a bar man was on the phone and restaurant was empty.. pizza we received 19.15 . Was full of cheese, very fat.. we left half of it… also 3 out of 4 couples eating that night had issues with the food.. on the tables was drowning with black pen .. which was not nice.. two dining chairs part of resting peas were missing.. Also we travel a lot - we never ever seen that in hotel room would not be phone to reception or information how to reach reception in emergency or simple requests.. There was nothing at all in our room. Also on Booking.com says town centre is 2,5 miles True is town centre is 4 miles away from hotel.

Breakfast although hot was dried up. Everything else fine with yogurt and fruit with croissants.

Availability of food during the day was limited. Bar closed early on Saturday at 10.30pm despite hotel information saying 11.00pm.

A great value. Clean hotel. Easy access for the motorway. Will use again. Bar nice. Bed comfortable. Breakfast fine.

Not a great deal within walking distance.

Very clean and quiet hotel room. Hotel is located walking distance from a lovely pub.

Breakfast is poor quality and lack choice. Also no more hot breakfast food from 9am on a Sunday! And what’s left is poor quality scrambled eggs and sausages. Very disappointing - would not advise to have breakfast there.

Staff where very rude at the bar,we stayed in room 125 and had to put up with the smell of cannabis in our room and corridor we complained to staff who done nothing to deal with whoever was using this in one of the near by rooms.

It was an ideal,base to visit the area

Room bed and breakfast great. Only problem was that shower temperature stat faulty and very high water temperature. I informed staff, when we went for breakfast.

It's a lovely building and it's spacious, clean and welcoming. Staff were so lovely and helpful. Food was awesome and the breakfast was good. The whole place was great and in a good location for Reaching Colchester town and also the Community Stadium. Great value for money. We would definitely go back.

Everything was great the only thing I would mention was the shower in my room was a bit iffy.. it was either burning hot or freezing but still not the end of the world!

Large & comfortable bed in a very spacious room.

Not a smart tv and tv reception was intermittent. No dressing table or mirror. Very small bathroom. No toilet brush. Long wait for breakfast items and very cold upon arrval. Bacon was really overdone and only one coffee machine available for so many guests.

Room not cleaned

The two young women on duty were friendly, hard working and attentive. Check in was easy and we were reminded to enter our car details for free parking. Our room was spacious, clean with comfortable beds. Plenty of hot water for a bath with 2 overhead shower sprays. We had a restful night's sleep. Evening meal food menu provided a range of "standard" items at very good prices. The food, including breakfast was plentiful and good quality for the price, including the machine coffee in the dining area.

I was not convinced by the claim of "hand stretched, made to order pizzas". The one I ordered was still in the freezer and although my substitute pizza was very nice, I am not convinced the base was hand stretched.
