Hotel Columbus

The location of the property is excellent. It’s just a 10–15 minute walk to the Old Town and right beside the Jewish Quarter, making it easy to explore the city’s main attractions. The surrounding neighborhood feels much more local than the tourist center and has plenty of authentic restaurants to choose from. The breakfast offered a good variety of options and was a great way to start each morning. The hotel also offered to arrange tours for us, which was a nice convenience, although we chose to book our own excursions instead.

We found the staff to be quite reserved. We were rarely greeted when entering or leaving the hotel, and we weren’t offered any recommendations about the local area or nearby restaurants. That said, one of the housekeeping staff was especially warm and friendly, and we always appreciated seeing her. The hotel doesn’t offer many amenities, but that’s understandable given that it’s housed in such a historic building. We weren’t expecting features like a gym or spa, so this wasn’t a major drawback.

An iron in the room. No other issues at all.

Nice big room with period furniture and clean soft carpet. Double glazing in PVC so no street noise but ability to open windows. Perfect! Comfortable beds, good choice of breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. Public transport on the doorstep. Old town is a leisurely stroll 10-15 minutes.

I did miss a kettle in the room for a cup of tea or coffee.

The view & the peaceful location

Uncomfortable mattresses which gave us both backache (really need replacing), tired decor with chipped paint etc, shower over bath, rather than walk in, with old fashioned shower curtain which was so long it got under your feet, lots of stairs including concrete ones at the top exposed to the elements (wouldn't fancy it when icy), top concrete walkway to get to apartment covered in leaves which made it slippy. Were not swept away during our 4 day stay. Overall expected better for the price paid.
