Gateway Aurangabad Hotel is an excellent choice when visiting Aurangabad and very probably the best hotel in town. I also thought the cost of my stay there was good value for money. This was my first visit and I had booked for four nights. My luggage was portered from my taxi into the lobby, where I was immediately greeted by staff. I found all the staff, at reception, housekeeping, the bar and in the restaurant exceptionally helpful, polite and welcoming and I had some very friendly conversations with several of them. The hotel has large, cool rooms surrounding two sides of the lawned area to the rear. The gardens are pleasant to walk around and the is a secluded swimming pool in a raised area to the rear. I must make special mention of the restaurant; given that my visit was in early June, the daytime temperatures rose upwards to 40 degrees, so I was going out sightseeing around 6am each day. Breakfast began at 6am but the staff allowed me in early, to take some items of food away with me. For general dining, thee were a large area of options, catering to many tastes. I should express particular thanks here to Sous Chef, Sainath Rathore and his team, who were always resourceful and accommodating to my requests.

Gateway Aurangabad is, I believe, owned by the Taj Group of hotels. I have one observation to make here, which I mean in a purely constructive sense; there were too many suited managers buzzing around at all times, in all parts of the hotel. It was far from busy in terms of guest numbers over the period of my visit and the number of suited managers appeared disproportionately high. From what I saw, the suited managers appeared to be too often interrupting other members of staff, pointing out or directing this-and-that when (in my opinion), the staff they were addressing appeared wholly competent and capable in all they were doing. It gave the impression that the suited managers were attempting to look busy by giving unnecessary directions.

Room Housekeeping. Daily Replenishments were niggardly. Housekeeping much to be improved and supervised. Trainees need propoer supervision and guidance. Permanent housekeeping staff seems to be taking it easy
