Novotel Citygate Hong Kong

We chose this hotel for our last night in Hong Kong/Macau because of its proximity to the airport. It certainly did not disappoint. We enjoyed having the shopping mall attached to the hotel and we found our room to be spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful and the free shuttle service worked well.

The breakfast buffet was a bit disappointing, but OK for our 1-night stay.

The layout of the room made it seem larger than it was, we had a great view of the swimming pool, the location was excellent and situated in the shopping centre with direct links to the MTR, great choice of food and discounts for hotel guests.

My partner struggled on a themed food night, as it was a buffet we assumed some western food would be on offer. Not a massive negative as I enjoyed!

I love the location and the bed

I don’t like there breakfast buffet I stayed before with my family for 5 days foods are all the same. Everyday. Not a lot of choices

Good location being at the start of the Tung Chung MTR line and only 10 minutes from the airport. The hotel is part of the Citygate shopping mall so there are endless shops and restaurants nearby. The shower was ok and the bed, while small, was comfortable enough. The breakfast was ok with quite a big selection on offer and a nice lady cooking omelettes.

It’s very old and way past time for renovation. A piece of gaffer tape was used to seal one end of the carpet in our room. The rooms are very small so no space to do anything other than sleep. The air in the room also felt stale. We paid extra for a premium room with lounge access on the understanding that we would have breakfast but this turned out not to be the case as the lounge only opens from 3pm to 9pm. There was very little of interest food wise but they had Japanese beer on tap and Chinese wine. The Japanese lady in the lounge was very helpful. We stayed for three nights but to be honest one night was be ok while three was too long given the high prices they charge.
