Vila Duparchy

The charm of the house, the size of the rooms and the gorgeous varanda. Fantastic breakfast as well.

Most important, lovely, charming hosts! We were warmly greeted after many hours of driving, and although Vila Duparchy does not serve dinner, they offered us a delicious soup. The vila has been in the family for many generations, and is a wonderful look into the glamorous past of Portugal. Surrounded by cool, lush forest area and just a 15 min walk into the quaint town of Luso. Very good breakfast. The rooms are very large, with high ceilings; basic, but super clean and comfortable. Do not expect coffee machine, mini bar, etc...not that kind of place! We loved it, so did our chihuahua!!

The only thing we did not like is that we did not stay longer.

This is an old villa that has been converted into a hotel but is not so adapted to the modern visitor. The villa and the yard around it are not well maintained, the rooms are on the first floor, 25 stairs, no elevator and you have to carry your luggage upstairs alone. There are not enough sockets in the rooms to charge electronic devices (phone, iPad, etc.). However , it is suitable for the price and a night's stop on the way.
