A typical conference venue hotel really. Needs some renovations in some areas but ok for a one night

The room was just about clean. Lots of dust on table top/surfaces which is quite poor. Hairdryer in the room was sticky & needed a good clean. Very off putting. Room needed a bit of updating really, slight damage to bath. Shower powerful but old.

Perfectly fine, exactly what you'd expect for the price

Breakfast cost us something stupid like £3 for both of us, and was a really decent spread TBF. No complaints!

The reviews were pretty good for this place, making it look really good value for money (really good property at low ish price) but they didn't quite reflect reality for me. It was perfectly fine, room was safe, had bathroom, bed, etc. But it was just fine. The bathroom was quite dirty (lots of hairs!), the property is starting to look a little tired (lots of scuffs and breaks). If you're just looking for a bed for the night, this is it.

Evening bar service slow. The staff were good just rushed off their feet and needed another staff member or 2 on to cope with peak time due to conference hosting evening networking at the bar.

Average; not worth the money

Breakfast was lovely and the place near to things.

Sadly the facilities weren’t good we didn’t have any hot water after speaking to reception and thwm sending out there maintenance man he couldn’t fix it , I had a 6 week old baby with me and I couldn’t bath them or have a shower myself with the water being not warm or hot. Also the bathroom was a bit unclean; hairs in shower and soap/ shampoo on the soap tray and mould aroind the silicone.

Not a 4* hotel.

The entrance is good, after that it declines into a travel lodge style accommodation. It was ok, the food was cooked well for the meals (4nights). Although the menu descriptions didn’t always match what you were served. IE: sun dried tomatoes advertised but standard tomatoes served. Rocket salad on menu, but some strange stringy cress like stuff served on the pizza. For some reason they put it on the cheese cake too. Staff were pleasant enough, but lacked professional training. Management seemed to be thin on the ground. IMO the staff just need more guidance as they would respond well I’m sure.

It could be cleaner in general. Bathroom very small. Furniture definitely not 4*. Basic trade bedding and towels. Service was absent unless you asked for things like condiments. Staff need training by to reach 3* level at least. As a family not being able to use the pool wasn’t good. 18+ After waiting 20mins for spoons for deserts. I rang the main telephone number from my mobile, asked reception to send spoons to us. The receptionist walked through the hotel to the bar to give us them. Which was comical. Visiting from Spain, we are used to later eating times. Breakfast closed and cleared at 9-30am. Restaurant and bar food closed by 9-30pm.

Room was dirty and old fashioned nothing like the pictures advertised. Think they must have some new and some old rooms as I’ve definitely stayed in a nicer room here previously I think they use the pictures of the new room for advertisement. Staff member was very rude, I asked for a room not so far away as I only have one lung and no car with me to park closer, they put me in a room so far, up lots of sets of stairs as the lift was broken. I got to my room and had pubes on the toilet seat and hair in the bath marks on toilet seat and in the sink also dirty around the sink room very dated and dusty, I went all the way back to reception and asked to switch rooms, I was very nice about it but the staff never apologies , just said “we don’t have anymore available” so I asked if there was a cleaner, I was told no and they would just refund my money. So I had travelled there for absolutely no reason and had to leave 15 minutes later. See photos, Pictures not very clear as screenshot from work phone

Too big. Photo of old building misleadingly as it has a huge modern extension which is where guests stay. Corporate venue. Huge dining room with very slow service as so busy. Breakfast good but restaurant so busy we had to eat in the bar. Good swimming pool but only half available for children to use during designated times other half for adult length swimmers.

No sound proofing meant minimal sleep

Friendly staff

Rooms very noisy. The room opened out on to the conference space. There’s no door to minimise sound between the two areas so it was constantly noisy. Despite the original house looking beautiful, the rooms are in a newer concrete build - so unfortunately could hear voices, TV and walking around all night from the rooms in either side plus the guests in the room above. It wasn’t that guests were excessively noisy, it’s just the lack of sound proofing at all. Breakfast was lovely. Dinner was grim (butternut squash gnocchi arrived cold and appeared to be from a tin). Waiting staff at dinner very lovely.

Lovely stay

The bar had a lovely atmosphere on Saturday afternoon. The rooms were lovely, clean and spacious. Reception staff were helpful.

The breakfast room on Sunday was very warm, a little uncomfortable. Breakfast was lovely, only down side was didn't feel like there was a enough staff to keep onto of replenishing the breakfast items. The only mugs that were left was on the bottom shelf at the back not ideal for older people as they were struggling to bend down.

A fabulous hotel , the staff are so friendly and professional, a speedy efficient check in , space to park , beautiful grounds , spa and pool , the restaurant and food was very good. The hotel had a good atmosphere with staff who seemed to want to be there and do a very good job .

Great stay and would stay again.

Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable. Lots of places to sit and relax. Wonderful outlook. Excellent choices at breakfast plus a hot drinks/water area to use during the day. Plenty of free parking. Didn’t use the spa facilities, but they looked great and are included in the price. Despite having mobility issues, managed to use the shower over the bath as the bath is wide and square, so felt safe and grab rails to hold on to.

Room 102 could do with a small table in the corner next to the wardrobe to put the kettle on, so it’s near a plug socket. Although it wasn’t a problem for me, the walk to the rooms is quite long if you have mobility problems.
