Staff lovely.
Afternoon tea and breakfast excellent
Sent away from the bar as barman doing whisky tasting. Asked to sit in residents lounge then ignored.
Room a bit dated.

The breakfast was excellent, plenty to choose from. The hotel was located close to Peebles with pleasant scenery. Room had tea and coffee facilities and complimentary shortbread and whisky.
The room we were allocated was looking a bit tired and could do with a makeover. The shower door did not close properly but we were reassured it would be fixed later that day. Ceiling above shower in bathroom was marked with what looked like dark spots.

I had an absolutely amazing experience at this beautiful place. The surroundings are stunning, and the people are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The dinner was exceptional—a delicious five-course meal paired perfectly with excellent wine. It was the perfect setting for a peaceful and romantic stay. I highly recommend this charming spot to anyone looking for a high-quality, relaxing getaway at a very good price. I would definitely return!

We loved the beauty of the house, surrounded by nature, the quality of the breakfast, and availability of the staff. The beds were great too!!
Being picky but, as always in the UK, the room is not entirely dark and the soundproofing of the door/walls is not the best (especially when you have the lift in front of your door). Otherwise all great!

Peebles is a nice little towm with restaurants and facilities. The accomodation was a 5 minute drive so a car is necrssary. Ww were able to commute to Edonburgh in 45 minutes. The accomodation was excellwnt ,peaceful location, great sleep there.

Breakfast and all meals were exceptional. Beautifully kept gardens.
Nothing much. A slight disappointment was how the conservatory has been let into a state of apparent visual decay.

Amount of lounges/relaxation space - walks around the property - Peebles - tasting menu - building itself and Scottishness.
Limited menu choice - breakfast was poor and even poorly cooked.

Excellent location, very friendly and attentive staff. Add to that the little extras such as personalised welcome card and complementary whisky in our room, free use of putting, croquet and outdoor chess. Stunning setting and trail around the grounds. Food exquisite. We have stayed here before and will do so again - our favourite "get away from it all" spot.
Everything was just perfect.

Absolutely stunning piece - incredibly relaxing and luxurious and not a hint of bling or fakery.
The only slight quibble is that the only option for dinner is the tasting menu priced at £80pp - albeit that the food was absolutely delicious!

We found the hotel to be very comfortable and had a very relaxing stay. We were relieved that the hotel would not let dogs into some areas. The proprietor introduced himself at meal times and asked if we were comfortable, et cetera.
Not a big deal, but they had run out of the wine we wanted in the restaurant. We were offered a perfectly satisfactory alternative.
8.0 / 10.0
Spacious rooms, dining experiences, large bed in our room, spacious bathroom, quiet, the historical finishes in the building combined with conventional improvements, and convenient parking. The grounds are well kept. The atmosphere is peaceful. The dinner staff remembered our preferences from night to night.
The bar wasn't stocked with all of the items on the menu. We were informed that there were no bottles of preferred beer and only 1 bottle of cider. We had to buy our own from the local shops and drink in our room, or pay a £35 corkage per bottle, rather than be able to purchase our drinks at the venue and enjoy the atmosphere. The owner assured us after the fact that they did have our drinks however the front of staff did not know this and they were not stocked in the bar areas. Small thing that would have made a difference to our enjoyment of our stay if the front staff talked to the back of house staff.

Cringletie House was beautiful and my mum had the best stay there for her 60th birthday. The grounds were lovely and perfect for exploring with our dog. The room was spacious and inviting with little perks such as whisky and short bread biscuits and even some treats for the dog. The breakfast offered good portion sizes and variety of items and we adored our 5 course meal on her birthday. The staff were welcoming and accommodating to all our needs. Could not have asked for a better birthday celebrations! Thank you!
Sometimes it was difficult to locate staff as we were not aware you could ring a service bell.
Some of the decorative cushion covers were a little musty.

The whole hotel had a warm feeling and not austere like other class hotels in Scotland. Checking in with the receptionist was easy and straightforward and a wam welcome. Room was warm and all the facilities you could wish for. We had a meal in the restaurant both evenings. The Monday was a 5 course meal and splendid. What a wonderful touch; to meet the owner, Bill Cross who was very approachable. Tuesday evening we had the room service meal served in the restaurant. Again this meal was also exceptional thanks to the talented head chef. Breakfast were also wonderful and relaxed with everything you could with for. I know it's been a tough start from 2019 but this hotel definitely needs patronising. We will be back.
I think our room/bathroom decor could do with some TLC
