The first time I stepped into this hotel, it smelled moudly in the front foyer, hallways and in the elevator. The first room I got was room 902. That room was no good because it smelled mouldy, there was a leak from the toilet, the bathroom fan was not working, there was a screw loose on the door, and the door frame was not fixed well. The room telephone was covered in bacteria. I complained about it, so they decided to put me into a another room which was much better, and so they did. The better room was bigger and had a view of the Statue of Christ, but the issue I was were the mosquitoes that flew into the room. I managed to clap them but one of them hid away and bit me several times.
The breakfast food was the same everyday, the scrambled eggs tasted bland. On the other hand the location of the hotel is a good one! I was just two blocks away from Ipanema Beach and there are plenty of aminities around including the metro station which is two short block away, so I could go anywhere across Rio de Janeiro.

Over all a good hotel in need of refurbishment in particular the air conditioning unit very inefficient and extremely noise to the point of not been able to sleep.

I wanted a decent hotel to stay and near the beach. Its convenient with lots of shops and eateries nearby and a supermarket. Rooms old looking but clean and functional. No kettle to make coffee or tea but there is a minibar and fridge. I like the bidet in the toilet but there isnt a shower cap in the bathroom. My interaction with the reception staff is mostly friendly and helpful.
