About this cottage rental

Located on the mainland at the ocean’s edge in a beautiful cove overlooking Clark Island and the open sea, our cottage offers the classic, rustic charm of mid-century coastal Maine — now open year-round for peaceful winter and spring stays.

Built in the traditional Maine style, the cottage combines timeless character with modern comfort. Enjoy quiet mornings watching the tide roll in, cozy evenings by the wood-burning fireplace, and long walks along the shoreline or through nearby forest trails. It’s the perfect retreat for couples, writers, remote workers, or anyone looking to experience Maine at its most tranquil.

•A Peaceful Setting on the St. George Peninsula

The cottage sits in the Township of Clark Island, one of several small, scenic towns that make up the St. George Peninsula. From the lobstering village of Port Clyde at one end (with daily ferry service to Monhegan Island) to Rockland at the other (voted one of America’s best small towns by Budget Travel), the peninsula is rich with character and year-round charm. In winter, it’s wonderfully quiet — yet just minutes from local dining, shopping, and outdoor adventures.

At the end of our road, the Craignair Inn of Clark Island welcomes visitors year-round with its gourmet restaurant and bar, perfect for an evening out without driving far.

•Winter Adventures and Cozy Comforts

Fireplace: Gather around the fire after a chilly coastal walk.

Clark Island Trails: An 8-minute walk to Maine Heritage Trust trails with ocean views.

Camden Snow Bowl: Just 45 minutes away for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing with ocean vistas.

Local hikes and preserves: Explore nearby Clark Island Preserve, Tenants Harbor, and the Drift Inn area.

Dog friendly: Well-behaved dogs are welcome!

• Work or Relax by the Sea

Reliable Wi-Fi makes it easy to stay connected for remote work, streaming, or writing by the fire. Watch the sunrise over the water, stroll the coast at lunch, and return to the warmth of your own seaside cottage.

• Easy to Reach

Knox County Airport (RKD) – just 5 miles away, with up to eight daily direct flights to Boston’s Logan Airport via Cape Air.

Driving: About 4 hours from Boston — a beautiful and straightforward coastal drive.

Rockland Ferry Terminal: Daily ferry to Nova Scotia, plus schooner tours from Rockland and Camden year-round.

This part of Maine is why they call it “Vacationland — where life is the way it ought to be.” Come see why winter and spring are the locals’ favorite seasons: quieter, cozier, and just as beautiful.

We loved our stay! The cottage is such a throwback to when beach homes were cozy, just the right quaint size, and were all about time outside, painting, puzzles, reading a good book with a fantastic view. The location is private, quiet, and you can hear the waves day or night. Our dogs especially loved the screened porch and walks on the practically carless road. The home has retained a lot of its charm from the past -- creaky cupboards and throwback tiles etc., my only notes would be it could use a few more cereal bowls (ha) and perhaps a vigorous dusting, but overall it's wonderful, five star(fish) from us. Thanks again!

We always enjoy our stay … terrific location, great ocean views are breathtaking and variable, fishing boats going out to sea at night and returning in morning, warm and inviting cottage make a perfect vacation for 5 friends and Charlie, the beloved dog.

The locations and views were perfect. Great combination of quiet and accessibility to restaurants and Rockland. The house needs to be thoroughly cleaned, a good plumber, and new linens. Otherwise, a great layout.
