Everything went super well at Quinta Sao José. The staff (Joana, Fernanda and Agatha) were fantastic and so helpful. The breakfast was a feat every morning and the dinners prepared by Fernanda were outstanding and delicious! I would highly recommend to anyone to stay here!

The location by the river, although long narrow track down was daunting, the views were stunning and it was so peaceful there.
Breakfast and dinner were delicious and plentiful. Staff friendly and helpful although we did not meet the owner.
Excellent swimming pool and terrace.

Our small vacation apartment with a living room, small kitchenette, and two bedrooms with a bathroom was clean. The furnishings are very simple but largely functional. There is a nice pool area. Nicely located about 50 meters to the river.
You are very happy when you reach the quinta after driving along the 6-7 kilometer long, sometimes quite narrow and steep winding road. Considering that the hosts must assume that most guests will stay on the property during their stay, the facilities are rather poor and the opportunities for activities are very limited. We were not offered anything to do during the day. Since the internet more or less only works in the main house/dining area and there is very poor cell phone reception, any research is also quite tedious. The breakfast is OK, and dinner consists of simple dishes (starter + main course + dessert) and tastes very good, but at 50-60 euros per person, it is simply too expensive. They are definitely taking advantage of the fact that, due to the location, guests are unlikely to leave the Quinta, especially in the evening when there is no daylight. The kitchen equipment in the rooms is so sparse that you couldn't really prepare anything yourself, even if you had brought food with you. The air conditioning in our apartment, which was only activated after we asked for it, could not be regulated. To maintain a comfortable temperature, we had to put up with very loud fan noise 24 hours a day. Unfortunately, we couldn't adjust the settings, but there was no one from the owners nearby whom we could ask.
