The Ahuriri River Lodge, a Holiday House, is the Homestead of the original Birchwood Station. This Iconic revitalised High Country Station Homestead is located at the start of the Ahuriri Conservation Park, encompassing some 49 000 hectares. Its 25km from the main Twizel/Queenstown road at Lindis Pass between Omarama and Tarras and the unspoilt views are breathtaking. We are approx 72km from Twizel and about 90 minutes from Wanaka. Nestled in a shelter-belt you are protected from the winds and can enjoy all the valley has to offer. The 10 seater dining room, the Bar/recreation room and lounge all look out over the stunning valley. Enjoy a log fire with a book from the library and good glass of wine as you soak in the views Your nearest neighbour is 10km away and you have a whole valley to enjoy. Walking distance to fly-fishing on the world famous Ahuriri River there are numerous activities to keep any outdoor enthusiast in raptures - or just have a break and soak in the beauty of the endlessly changing valley.

This property is perfect for its location
If you want somewhere to get away to that screams New Zealand, this is it
perfect to share with another family for a long weekend, for a cosy winter weekend or for indulging in the huge outdoor opportunities that surround the property

We were most impressed by the facilities provided in the property which was spacious and clean located in a spectacular valley. Unfortunately the weather made life difficult with strong winds for all of our stay. However as they say thems the breaks and we did find one sympathetic fish that will encourage us to come back again.
