Brilliant family trip
Fantastic hosts, communicated clearly and swiftly on anything and everything. The property is located perfectly for easy access to Gengenbach centre, the pool, easy access to the forest, to Strasbourg in 45 mins, Colmar in an hour and a Europa-Park in 35 mins.

This was one of the best stays I've ever had in when travelling (and I have travelled a lot!!). My sister and I were on holiday together and wanted a nice central base in the Black Forest for 3 nights there. Martina met us in person on arrival, showed us around, gave us great restaurant recommendations (Mercyscher Hof was our favourite!) and helped with a choice of spa for a day trip to Baden Baden. The house is beautiful and well-equipped the hosts are photographers and their photography is throughout the house. The beds were very comfortable, it was great to have TV, sofas, piano, coffee machine, kitchen facilities, a huge bathroom, and a private outdoor space under the trees (great for breakfast or pre-dinner drinks). There were thoughtful little touches that the hosts left for us too. It was only 5 minutes walk into Gengenbach town but a perfect location for us as there were no problems with parking. Our hosts were so lovely, we saw them several times throughout our stay and were so lucky to do a lovely walk into the Black Forest with them on our last night! They really did make us feel so welcome and we feel very lucky to have found such a good spot, they truly made our experience amazing. We wish we could have stayed for longer and would highly recommend Ferienhaus Sunny - we would definitely stay there again! Some recommendations on the general area - Gengenbach is a perfect base. I would avoid Offenburg as it's a big city, and Baden Baden and Freiburg are nice but we much preferred Gengenbach - a better size and less touristy, plus very central for exploring the area. There is a big supermarket and also a bike rental place near to the accommodation, on the same side of Gengenbach - I recommend a bike ride up into the hills above the town. Schiltach is great for a morning or afternoon visit, likewise Baden Baden. And the roads to Schiltach, and also south to Freiburg via Haslach / Muehlenbach etc (294) are nice scenic drives.
