This 4 season home sits on 1 acre and 110 feet of sandy shoreline that's perfect for a swim on beautiful Buckhorn Lake. The lake is part of the Trent Severn Waterway's and gives you access to five beautiful lakes to enjoy during the day, and then relax by the shoreline fire pit in the evenings. 3 bedrooms. 3 beds and 1 futon bed. Sleeps 6-8.
1 full bath on main floor and half bath on the second floor. Plenty of seating in living room and dining room. Plenty of space for parking your trucks and trailers.

The location has convenient access to local towns and is an easy drive from Peterborough. There is lots of space and having the second (1/2 bath) was helpful. David was good to deal with when we had a minor issue with a power outage (caused by the utility provider, not his property). Wifi was good.
There are some areas for improvement:
1) More clarity on the fact that you need to bring your own bed sheets and pillowcases; this was not mentioned in the listing (we triple-checked) but is common now with Covid so not a deal-breaker.
2) The property does have multiple examples of "deferred maintenance" as another review mentioned, but that is also reflected in the price.
3) Some of the Queen beds are smaller than a regular queen - we think they are actually doubles.
4) The waterfront is really shallow and weedy so think carefully if you are planning to bring a powerboat into the dock; it can be done but you'd want to scope it out first. Kayaks would be fine.

Davids cottage is so nice and cozy! Had family up from the Friday-Monday and everyone had their own room. Everything you need David has and more. The kitchen, dinning room and living room is spacious. We booked the week and let me tell you it was amazing! Peaceful, quiet and so relaxing!

Communication with the owner was excellent. Was able to get good tips for fishing spots and cottage info like wifi codes, local areas to go and places for things we needed.
One concern I had was the charges. Cottage says up to eight people. We were originally slated for 6, but 2 could not make it. There are hidden charges if you have over 4 people and we have not been refunded this portion. We tried calling VRBO and the owners, seems like no one wants to commit to refunding this portion. So beware of this item. I have tried to explain this situation and it is not resolved by either side. Not impressed by this specific thing, but overall the stay was as expected.
