I can honestly say the accommodation and area surpassed our expectations. Communication with René was incredibly efficient before and during our stay, including recommended restaurants and local events taking place during our stay. Location of the property is perfect for what we wanted - close to the centre of Avoine and it's facilities, but secluded and not overlooked. The garden is fantastic with an outside dining area, parking area, garage for storing cycles and a lovely sitting area under a beautiful Albizia tree. The property itself is well equipped to a high standard and the perfect size for us. We hired bikes from Chinon for the week and made good use of the cycle routes and small quiet well maintained roads to visit places instead of using the car all the time. Would return for future visits without question!

Lovely stone built house with a walled garden and enclosed courtyard. Easy walk to bakery, butcher, supermarket, restaurants, and a great swimming pool. The host is super helpful and communicative. A perfect spot to check out all the wonders of the Loire Valley.

The property well equipped and presented in a good location. In its own grounds with secure gates offers a nice property to explore the local area which has much to offer. The cycling routes are organised and relatively easy to ride taking the many opportune cultural château stops on route. Avoine itself is a nice place with many local amenities to help the stay go smoothly.

Brilliantly located property, kitted out to a very high standard. Just round the corner from a village centre with Carre-Four supermarket, boulangerie, butchers, and a multi-pool swim centre. Rene and Nicole very kindly lent us bikes, which we used on the excellent network of local cycle routes. Highlights for the kids were the fortress at Chinon (the ipad-esque "histopads" were excellent - National Trust could learn a thing or two) and the massive troglodyte zoo "BioParc" - worth the 40 minute drive. We had a great week, and can't recommend the property and the hosts enough.

Superb location

The photos really don't do this gite justice. It was spotlessly clean and the private outdoor space was lovely. The owners were very welcoming and gave good advice on the area, including which of the 3 bakers in walking distance was the best (we tried all 3 but went back to their recommendation). This gite is on a small one way street (with very little traffic) in the centre of the village. All the facilities including a supermarket are within a few minutes walk. It is only 10/15 mins away from Chinon a beautiful town which has a large hypermarket and a castle - particularly good if you have children (very interactive). We used this gite as a base to visit many of the Chateaus in the area and it was perfect. If I was visiting the area again I would stay here.

We had a brilliant stay in this very well equipped and homely property. The hosts were exceptionally helpful and even fixed a puncture in one of the bikes we were loaned by them (we only asked if there was a bike pump we could borrow to do it ourselves!). Thank you very much Rene

We are a family of four (two teenage sons) who have just returned from a 2 week holiday in France. We wanted to locate ourselves for our first week in the Loire Valley and then move onto The Dordogne region for our second week. La Bonne Oats suited us down to the ground and Rene and Nicole couldn't have been more helpful. During our stay we were lucky enough to have wonderful weather and Rene and Nicole made sure we had fans for the house which we could move around as we needed. They also allowed us to use 4 bikes which enabled us to make use of the very well marked cycle routes down to and along the Loire Velo Trail which was well worth it. The property itself was spotlessly clean and very well equipped - decorated to a high standard with a thoughtful layout. Despite our French being pretty bad and Rene and Nicole claiming their English wasn't very good (much better than our French!) we all managed to understand each other and we enjoyed a home made aperitif together on our last night with some help from google translate! We found the location of the property really useful. Not only were we handy for the middle of Avoine and its bakery and Carrefour supermarket - (literally a 2 minute walk away) but the property was private, peaceful and had plenty of outside space which made it very relaxing. From Avoine we reached Montsoreau (for its market and river beach),Zoo Parc de Beauval (just 1 1/4hrs) which was a very good zoo with the animals looking very well cared for and of course we got to see the Pandas and Hippos!. Saumur was only 20 minutes away - a very picturesque town with lots going on there to see and do - Loire cruises (nice 50 min cruise with a tasting session of local sparkling wine and biscuits!), bike hire, Chateau and not too far away Kayak hire among other things. Chateau de Chenonceau was only 50 mins away also which was very pretty and you could also incorporate Chateau Villandry and its wonderful gardens in on the same day. Rochmemenier Troglodyte Village was 1/2 hr away. Along with lots of well signposted walks, bike routes and sunflower fields there was something for us all. Couldn't fault the property, area or Rene and Nicole's hospitality.

La Bonne Avoine (= The Good Oats) is a stylishly converted house right in the heart of the town of Avoine but in a quiet location with nice private gardens. It is well furnished, having a double, a twin and a single bedroom plus bathroom (with shower) upstairs and a nice sitting/dining room and kitchen and extra toilet and shower room downstairs. There is a washing machine and drying stand and the kitchen has a dishwasher, oven, ceramic hob, coffee machine for filter coffee and a kettle and plenty of cooking utensils and crockery and cutlery. We spent a very enjoyable week visiting local attractions such as Chateau Chenonceau, Abbaye de Fontevraud, Chateau d'Azay-le-Rideau and the gardens of Chateau de Villandry, which are all in easy distance from Avoine. The city of Chinon is attractive and offers lots of shopping and eating out opportunities and is only 15 minutes by car. Avoine itself has lovely flowers in the centre and there is a Carrefour supermarket, a bakery, post office, pharmacy etc in 5 minutes walking distance from the house. The owners Nicole and René Vineau made us very welcome and live close by and quickly resolved a problem we had with the hot water supply. We can highly recommend La Bonne Avoine to anybody wishing to stay in this area.

Wir waren vier Frauen 55+, die sich zu einem genussvollen Frankreich-Urlaub in diesem Haus zusammengefunden haben. Obwohl wir zwei Stunden zu früh ankamen, wurden wir nach einem Telefonat freundlichst von Nicole und René empfangen. Das schmucke und gut aufgeteilte Haus liegt in einer kleinen Seitenstraße sehr zentrumsnah nur 3 min von Bäcker, Metzger, Brasserie, Kirche und Supermarkt entfernt. Die Ausstattung von Haus und Garten ist ausgezeichnet. Eine ausführliche Infomappe war vorbereitet und Kartenmaterial für Ausflüge war auch vorhanden. Wir haben uns sehr, sehr wohlgefühlt und blendend erholt. Als wir mit einem Fenster Probleme hatten, weil wir die Velux-Sperre nicht kannten, war René sofort zur Stelle. Drei E-Bikes konnten wir in der Garage parken und aufladen. Der große Garten mit sonnigen und schattigen Plätzen und einem Außenessplatz wurde am Nachmittag und Abend gerne von uns genutzt. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und hoffen, im kommenden Jahr wiederkommen zu können.

La propriété est très bien et les propriétaires sont très gentils. La propriété est bien placée: * à Avoine dans le centre du bourg donc près des commerces et de la maison médicale * position centrale dans de Val de Loire pour faire des visites. La maison et le jardin sont très agréables et possèdent tout ce qu’il faut. 2 chambres sont très grandes. Les 2 belles salles de bains et les 2 WC apportent un confort important. Notre séjour à été très agréable.

wir wurden freundlich von den Vermietern empfangen und in das Haus eingewiesen, das Haus war makellos sauber und ist gut und funktionell eingerichtet. Es gibt einen schönen kleinen Garten, mit einer Sitzecke. Supermarkt und Restaurants sind fußläufig binnen 5 Minuten erreichbar. Die Unterkunft ist sehr gut gelegen um Schlösser oder pittoreske Städtchen wie Saumur zu besuchen. Der Loire-Radweg verläuft in unmittelbarer Nähe des Hauses. Internet ist ebenfalls vorhanden und war phasenweise etwas langsam.

Nous avons passé une excellente semaine de la Toussaint dans ce très beau gîte. On se sent très vite « comme à la maison ». Ce gîte, bien équipé, est très confortable, chaleureux et très propre. La maison est situé au calme et tout proche des commerces à pieds (boulangerie, supermarché, ...) Il est très bien positionné pour visiter les châteaux de la région et le Zoo de Beauval n’est qu’à 1 heure de route. Enfin, les propriétaires sont très sympathiques et disponibles. Nous recommandons vivement cette location.

Das freistehende Haus mit grosszügigem Umschwung ist sehr gut eingerichtet und eignet sich als idealer Ausgangspuntk für Velotouren (Velos wurden durch den Vermieter zur Verfügung gestellt). Das Vermieter-Ehepaar war sehr nett und lud uns sogar zu einem Apéro in ihrem Haus ein. Die Übergabe am Ende der Ferien war völlig unkompliziert.

The house is very comfortable and well equipped and we had a warm welcome from our hosts. It is in an excellent position, especially for cyclists, there are numerous trips to visit chateaux and other places of interest which are an easy, mostly flat ride away. Avoine is a pleasant place with shops etc. very near.

We had an amazing week in Avoine and enjoyed our time in the holiday house and its garden in the Loire region. Our hosts welcomed us very warmhearted and gave us very good advice of possible activities in the area. The holiday house and location met our high expectations. It's a beautiful arrangement of a historic house with modern interior. Since we focused on riding our bikes in the Loire region, we made the most of the fact, that the major bike routes pass Avoine. It is also very convenient, that a bakery and supermarket is in walking distance.

Das Ferienhaus "La Bonne Oats" von Madame und Monsieur Vineau ist sehr nett und jederzeit empfehlenswert. Es ist gut eingerichtet und mit allem ausgestattet (SAT-TV wäre vielleicht noch schön). Der Ortskern mit Supermarkt, Bäcker, Post, Bank etc. ist fußläufig zu erreichen und für Fahrradfahrer gibt es schöne Strecken zu verschiedenen Sehenswürdigkeiten.
