About this house rental

Located in one of the most beautiful regions of the French Ardennes between Givet and Charleville-Mezières. This house offers you peace and modern comfort with respect for tradition.
The house is a typical example of what we call in the region "a fumacienne‘ "and it is located in the protected area of the castle opposite.
Beautiful terrace with garden table, garden furniture, barbecue and small house to park your bikes safely.
Modern kitchen with full equipment, dining room and separate living room.
5 Bedrooms: 4 ch. with 180 cm beds, 1 bedroom. with 2 beds of 90 cm and a cot
2 bathrooms and a powder room
Bakers and butchers in the village, department stores for shopping
Restaurant in pizzeria on the large square nearby
Go mountain biking or cycling on the Greenway from the house
(40 km to go in both directions for unlimited pleasure)
Possibility to rent and drive your own boat in Haybes, Givet or Monthermé.
For those who love adventure there is ‘Terre Altitude’ with the possibility of climbing or daring the ‘Death Ride’.
For children the wonderful Elfy Park in Les Mazures very close to the Lac des Veilles Forges, ideal place for a swim or a walk.
Cultural visits: Chateau de Hierges (10km), Charleville-Mézières (35km), Givet (20 km) and Sedan (55km).

We had a fantastic time! The house is perfect for a gathering with good friends. The kitchen is well equipped, the garden is beautiful, and the enclosed space was perfect for small children playing outside. We had a lovely time adventuring in the surrounding area, to the lake nearby and hikes in the forest. Everything was super clean and well organized, and the house has a lot of character. It was a wonderful trip, thank you!

Fabulous House

Fabulous House

We had a wonderful week staying at La Fumacienne in Fumay over New Year. We travelled from Australia to meet up with friends from the UK. The house was perfect for us all, 6 adults and 3 teenagers. The house has been renovated beautifully, is spotless and well maintained. It had everything we needed for a warm winter stay. Despite being Winter, we hired bikes from Givet and cycled along the Meuse, we also did several walks around the local area to nearby villages. Thank you Yves and Geertje for a memorable stay in Fumay. We hope to visit again one day.

Fabulous gite in great location

A beautiful, comfortable, very well equipped gite that was more spacious than we anticipated from the photos. The gite was lovely and clean, the beds comfy, the bathrooms very new with lovely showers. The garden was a haven with sunny and shady parts and having somewhere to store our 9 bikes was an added bonus. The little car park just up the road for the cars was very convenient as we were concerned by the lack of on site parking before we arrived. There were 2 supermarkets nearby as well as a bakery and a post office. We all enjoyed cycling on the wonderful car free cycle path along the river and the scenery was stunning. We were very sad to leave and could easily have stayed another week.

Historical and spacious house close to the Meuse

We rented the house for a family reunion of nine people aged 2 to 70. There was plenty of room for us all and we even used the barbecue outside (in March). Our children loved the Sonos sound system and we enjoyed using Netflix once the children were in bed. There was a lot to do in the area and we appreciated the information provided. The garden was a haven of peace, especially when the sun shone.

Wat een mooi en gezellig huis. Wij hebben hier met een groep oud en nieuw gevierd. Het huis is ruim, van alle gemakken voorzien, mooi ingericht en comfortabel. De eigenaren reageren snel als je een vraag hebt en zijn ontzettend aardig. Zo mochten wij wat langer blijven op de dag van vertrek omdat we een lekke band hadden die gerepareerd moest worden. Met 2 kleine kinderen ben je dan erg blij dat je niet op straat staat :) De omgeving is ook prachtig er is veel te zien en te beleven. Wij komen graag nog eens terug!

Wir haben die Tage rund um Neujahr mit einer Gruppe von zehn Erwachsenen und zwei Kleinkindern in La Fumacienne verbracht. Ein tolles Haus! Sehr viel Platz zum Verweilen, gemeinsam essen und alles (und sogar noch mehr!), was man in einem Ferienhaus braucht, stand uns zur Verfügung. Der persönliche Empfang von Yves und Geertje war sehr angenehm und auch die Kommunikation vor und während des Aufenthalts war immer reibungslos. Die Gegend lädt durch ihre Lage direkt an der Meuse, auch im Winter, zu vielen schönen Spaziergängen ein. Wir würden immer wieder dieses Haus wählen, sollten wir noch einmal in die Gegend reisen! Wir hatten mit 10 Personen ein wundervolles Wochenende in Fumay. Das Haus ist super ausgestattet und es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Wir haben es sehr genossen, dass man sowohl im Esszimmer als auch im Wohnzimmer sehr gemütlich und ohne Platzmangel in großer Runde zusammensitzen konnte. Die Umgebung bietet viele Wandermöglichkeiten und der Garten des Hauses lädt auch zum verweilen ein. Der Kontakt mit den Vermietern war sehr unkompliziert und nett. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Vielen Dank für diesen unvergesslichen Urlaub! Schon der herzliche Empfang in Fumay durch die Vermieter mit Führung durchs Haus hat uns gefallen. Auch waren die Vermieter jederzeit erreichbar u für alle Fragen offen. Viele touristische Ziele in der Nähe, sehr familienfreundlich. Wir, 4 Erwachsene u 3 Kinder habe den Aufenthalt sehr genossen, unsere persönlichen Highlights: die Zitadelle von Dinant Charleville mit seinen Schirmen u Patisserien und abendliches Lagerfeuer mit Stockbrot im Garten Immer wieder gern

Absolument à découvrir! Magnifique maison, un accueil chaleureux et tout était très bien expliqué. La maison est très bien équipée, il nous manque de rien et avec son décoration "authentique" on a passé des très bons moments. On était à 8 personnes, mais il y avait largement de la place, même à 10 personnes sa suffit largement. Je pense que on va revenir.
