If you’re wishing for time to watch the ocean crash on rock, pelicans and seabirds fish and whales roll through the swell, Gardner Family House’s upstairs unit will give you the perfect perch over the south shore of Depoe Bay. You can overlook
boats braving the surge and surf as they motor in and out of Depoe Bay harbor. The kelp beds just off your backyard are attractive to seals, birds, and the occasional whale, and you’re likely to see lots of spouting from whales around and beyond the bay. The location and view were absolutely outstanding! We loved being able to walk into town with our children for dinner each evening, and we could have spent hours just sitting in the window chairs watching the whales and soaking in the scenery. Truly a special setting.That said, it felt like we were staying in two different houses. The kitchen and bathrooms have been nicely updated and feel fresh and modern, but the rest of the house is very dated—with old carpet and furnishings that give off a strong musty odor as soon as you walk in. The contrast was surprising.Overall, we absolutely loved the location and views, but the condition of the house outside of the updated areas left a lot to be desired.

The property was gorgeous! It is in the perfect location to walk into town and peruse the shops, or stay in and whale watch. The kitchen is amazing; I truly enjoyed watching and listening to the ocean as I cooked. I can see that parking is a little difficult during high tourist times, but we had no problems. That is mostly due to the fact we stayed in, or walked wherever we wanted to go. Local fish shop Crabby Daddy was our go to for fresh seafood. Fairly priced and incredibly fresh.

Communication with host (Meredith Lodging) was prompt, but curt. We had a family emergency and couldn’t check in until Sat (rental began Friday). I didn’t expect a refund for Friday, but maybe some sort of consolation or at least a late check out for our 25th anniversary trip (which was denied….despite the fact that they knew that we were celebrating this milestone).. Check out was 10 am (which is definitely on the early side). I guess that’s what you get with a larger management company. The home was amazing, but don’t expect warm customer service or any flexibility.

This house is well situated on Depoe Bay. There were amazing views of waves from every room. The light on the harbor entrance allowed you to see the waves even at night. It was very comfortable and nicely remodeled. Convenient to the shops and restaurants. A great stay!

The view was amazing. We saw humpback whales just below our window. The newly remodeled kitchen and bathrooms were very nice. You might want to invest in some new bedding and get rid of the tired old sheets and coverlet. Also suggest a new set a knives that are actually sharp.

This house was absolutely everything!! Who doesn’t love an amazing ocean view when eating dinner, enjoying the fire place or even doing the dishes! During our stay the weather was horrible and all of our plans were cancelled but, we made the most of Depoe Bay staying here was exactly what we needed! Will definitely be booking again!

My wife and I stayed with her sister and husband. It was a working vacation for me, but a true vacation for the rest of the family. We absolutely love this location and have been there three times over the last couple of years. There has recently been some great upgrades to the kitchen and bathroom. Being pet friendly is a great add!

A friend and I stayed in this beautiful home. We spent hours sitting in the recliners watching boats go in and out of the harbor, whales spouting & breaching, seals playing in the surf, people fishing below, and waves pounding the rock below. It was such a wonderful and relaxing time. Highly recommend!

Great job on the remodel and adding a half bath! Great addition. Shower a bit challenging to not be blasted with cold water at start and keeping the water from getting outside the shower area, but very pretty and improvement over what was there before.

We enjoyed a 3 night stay at the Gardner House property. The house was immaculate and had all that we needed for a cozy stay. 1 block walk to town shops. View of the ocean was spectacular with the sound of the waves ever present in the home. We all enjoyed our stay!

Check in was very easy. Home was clean and has a relaxing vibe that makes you feel right at home. The views were incredible. We were able to watch the whale right from the home. Location was great with easy access to great restaurants and coffee shops. Would recommend this home to any family looking for a relaxing time. Beach access was a short drive. The views are stunning and the proximity to town is a perfect afternoon walk. Plus walking around the neighborhood was pleasant. There were plenty of kitchen supplies for cooking meals, although the stove and fridge and microwave are a little antiquated. Sometimes the burners didnt work, but the kitchen and bath had a charming vintage feel to it. the only complaint i would have is the dirty carpets. They charged us $90 to bring our 2 dogs and from the looks of it, almost everyone brings their dogs. There were 15-20 dark pet stains throughout the home. you would think with the amount they charge to stay and bring our pets they could shampoo the carpets so they are fresh when the next guest arrive. Heck I bought a carpet cleaner for $100 for my home. So technically they could purchase one with our pet deposit we just paid and clean the carpets between guests. The gals through the service were very nice and pleasant to work with. We would stay there again because of the views and location. But maybe inquire if the carpet have been shampooed recently.

This property has fantastic views that you can watch the boats coming in and out of the Depoe Bay harbor. Cleanliness is super important to us and this rental met our standards. The kitchen and bathroom are definitely dated but clean and that’s what matters. The property manager was quick to respond when we couldn’t figure out the door lockbox and checked to see if everything was going well. Very attentive. We would definitely recommend this rental and stay here again!

This home is the nearest home to the Depoe Bay channel. It's viewing angles are such that you can see the boats come and go almost up to the underneath opening of the bridge. And, it is only a short block away from viewing the harbor. Also, as whales travel through the ocean-bay, they can be just a matter of yards away from the property. Our stay resulted in hundreds of photos, and provided a truly amazing experience for all of us.

My family and dogs just stayed at this place and it was perfect for us. We saw lots of whales and ships going in and out of the ocean. The only thing I would recommend is to bring your own binoculars. This was a perfect place to stay. The owners we very responsive.

The house was pretty nice overall. The view is fabulous! The only thing missing was a bit of attention to the details. (No batteries in the bedroom remote, no light bulb in the bathroom, no dishwasher soap.). The carpet could have used a better vacuuming since we had a baby with us and she kept getting dog hair on her toys. But overall it was older but nice.
