We stayed 5 days at Methos Homestay! This place is beyond words incredible. The beautiful large bungalows over the water are the best ones we’ve stayed at during our 3-week Raja Ampat holiday. They are equiped with everything needed to make your stay as perfect as needed: hot water, a big soft mattress, power plugs, coffee, thee, a huge terras overlooking the ocean, directly facing the never ending sunset. In front, the housereef provides you with all the goods: Turtles and dolphins passing on a daily base. The manta’s are just a 15 minute boatride away. The food is fantastic and the staff so friendly. There is not a thing we could possibly say that didn’t exceed our expectations. Thank you so much for your hospitality and for sharing your extraordinary beautiful home with us. We can't wait until we are back in to this little paradise on earth!

A beautiful homestay; the snorkelling is fantastic, the underwater garden beginning in front off your bungalow. You saw turtles, rays, sharks and all kinds of colourful reef fish. We even spotted a dugong! Methos organizes wonderful boat trips in the area. The Gam Bay tour (jellyfish lake) in particular was amazing. Delicious, hearty meals are served on the veranda in a peaceful setting. It’s great that you can walk to the village (Kapisawar) behind the homestay in just five minutes for a wonderful glimpse of local life. There are a few shops selling basic products. There is a primary school and everyone greeted us with a smile. Friendly staff, a well-lit jetty that creates a cozy atmosphere in the evening hours. The simple shower area is also fine, clean and well-lit! Relaxing days are guaranteed at Methos Homestay, which offers a stunning panoramic view of the sea from your own private veranda.

The bungalows are in very good condition and well equipped. Everything is clean, well lit and it has a cozy atmosphere. Very well-organized excursions by Methos. The food is plentiful and delicious. A decent shower area with fresh water that provides a refreshing cool-down. The location is quiet and perfect for snorkelling directly from your bungalow to the house reef. I would highly recommend this place to everyone!
The day of leaving and saying goodbye to the family...

The room was beautifully decorated, with large doors that allowed you to see the ocean directly from the bed. You could go straight down to the sea from the room’s deck using private stairs, which made it feel like being on holiday in paradise. The house reef was good, we saw turtles, walking sharks, blacktip sharks, and many colorful coral fish while snorkeling. The bed was very comfortable, and having meals delivered to the room was a great convenience. Some of the staff were especially welcoming and friendly. The excursion brochure was also very good, with clear descriptions of each activity, what to bring, and the cost, which made everything easy to understand and plan.
The sliding doors to both the room and the deck were quite noisy in windy conditions, as they tended to bang against the wall. This happened most evenings and nights during our stay and sometimes disturbed our sleep. The mosquito net above the bed had a few small holes, and there were termites in the room. As a result, we sometimes woke up to find termite waste on the bed, which felt unhygienic. We also noticed termite waste on the floors, shelves, tables, and outside the room. We also experienced a few occasions where rats tried to get into our bags, which caused small holes. We would recommend not leaving bags on the floor. We booked two excursions through the property. One of them was the “Bird of Paradise” trip. We were informed to be ready at the homestay at 05:00, which we did. We asked twice to confirm the time as 05:30 was written on the board. However, we waited for 15 minutes and nobody showed up. When we decided to return to the room and try to rest, someone finally arrived at 05:35. We had previously confirmed with them whether the excursion would start at 05:00 or 05:30, and they clearly told us it would start at 05:00 from the homestay. 05:30 was the time the trip would leave the other village where the guide lives. We went up again and joined the trip and Marina walked us to the village 30 min away. There she knocked on the door to the guide but nobody opened. We waited 20 min until we found out that the guide was hungover and didn’t show up and he had not notified the homestay. An elderly man from the village who knew very little of birds eventually walked us to the spot in the jungle another hour away. We waited 2 hours at the spot but no bird of paradise were ever there. A Kingfisher and a few Parrots were all we saw. The “guide” could speak no English and very little Indonesian. We spoke to another couple who did the same trip and also never saw the bird of paradise. If it’s rarely seen, it should be communicated in the information of the trip.
