A getaway in southern Burgundy, a stay near Chalon sur Saône, a stopover in the direction of the Alps or the Mediterranean, a break on the road to the great wines of Burgundy, a stopover by bike along the greenway ???

We have what you need: In Givry, wine-growing town on the Chalonnaise coast, 60 km south of Dijon, 10 km west of Chalon sur Saône (A6 motorway), 20 minutes from the TGV station

Beautiful Place

Beautiful Place

We spent eight nights at La Maison Jaune and found it a delightful setting. Aline and her husband were warm and friendly and were helpful with local information. The house is in the village of Givry but it has a beautiful and extensive garden which was available to us. We could walk to restaurants and shops. If you enjoy cycling, the Voie Verte and the Canal make this a perfect place.

Peaceful and beautiful

The yellow house is two blocks from the town center of Givry, a quiet, beautiful little town right out of the middle ages. We fell in love immediately. Aline and Olivier were delightful, helpful, and gave us free reign of their fabulous garden yard. One tiny room downstairs, was the kitchen. We did cook a couple meals, and it was adequate. The upstairs had an area that we used as a second bedroom (it also housed the water closet), and then a bedroom with a shower and two sinks. Large beams in all upstairs rooms were low and anyone over 5'2" or so needs to duck. All that said, we 4 adults did quite well, although, I think it is better suited for 2. The place had been remodeled recently, and was quite clean. The entire area was magical with the vineyards (it's in the Cote Chalonnaise), the old buildings, the wonderful market, and hiking and biking trails. Add in that our hosts made us feel so much at home, and it went over the top. One downside was that we only could get internet outside...could have been our provider. Olivier let us hook up to his personal account. Thanks for the much needed rest before heading off to the culture shock of Paris.

Hier passte einfach alles. Die Wohnung ist mitten im kleinen Ort Givry und alle wichtigen Geschäfte sind zu Fuß gut erreichbar. Aline ist eine wunderbare Gastgeberin und hat uns mit ihrem Mann freundlich begrüßt und in Empfang genommen. Die Wohnung war sauber und gut ausgestattet. Man hat Zugang zum schönen Garten und glaubt gar nicht, dass man mitten im Ort ist. Auch das Umland ist schön und lädt zu Ausflügen ein. Wir kommen gerne wieder und bedanken uns ganz herzlich.

We kwamen tijdens de slechtste week van de zomervakantie naar Givry. Ondanks de regen hebben we toch erg genoten van ons verblijf! Het huisje is heel gezellig en ideaal voor ons klein gezin. Het dorp is erg aangenaam, de bakker missen we nu al ontzettend.

The town and surrounding vineyards are lovely, but be prepared for constant reminders that you're staying at the owners' home and that privacy is limited. Not 'staying' as a guest, though, as we were not made to feel very welcome. Also, bear in mind that the owners, by their own admission, do not clean the apartment between visitors! We were given musty towels and greasy dishes, but at check-out we were told by the looming and pointing owner to remove every dog hair from the curtain and every speck of dust from the floor - with no soap or mop on offer. Our dogs were allowed for an additional fee, but it was apparently unacceptable that they made noise whilst playing during the day. We didn't spot a poo near the owners' door which supposedly brought a plague of flies upon the house, but the compost heap directly outside our kitchen window surely attracted enough of them.

Ein wunderschöner Urlaub

Ein wunderschöner Urlaub

Wir haben mit unseren beiden Kindern und unserem Hund 8 wunderschöne Tage im "Gelben Haus" verbracht. Die Wohnung ist klein, aber fein. Liebevoll eingerichtet, mit einem sehr schönen Bad. Den Abend kann man draussen im grossen Garten , bei Kerzenschein mit einem Glas Wein ausklingen lassen. Die Lage ist toll. 5 Minuten zur Boulangerie, ein kleiner Lebensmittelmarkt (7 Tage geöffnet) um die Ecke. Auch in den Weinbergen ist man innerhalb von ein paar Minuten, von dortaus hat man eine wunderschöne Aussicht und man kann mit dem Hund schön Spaziergänge machen. Im Umkreis kann man viele anderen Städtchen besichtigen. Wir waren wieder ganz begeistert von Frankreich und seinen Menschen. Olivier und Aline sind sehr nette Gastgeber.

Wir verbrachten sieben herrliche Tage im großen Garten des geräumigen Hauses. Durch die Lage abseits der Hauptstraße war es insgesamt sehr ruhig. Man konnte die Abende sehr angenehm unter der großen Linde im Garten verbringen. Herzlichen Dank an Madame Burat für die wertvollen Tipps und Ratschläge für die Unternehmungen in der Bourgogne! Für uns als Elektroautofahrer war ein besonderer Vorteil die öffentliche (und bis Ende 2020 noch kostenlose) Ladesäule um die Ecke (Place des la Poste).

Wir haben zum 2. Mal eine Woche in Givry verbracht und es wieder genossen. Dieses Mal haben wir die "Ballade verte" in der Umgebung von Givry ausprobiert und sind ganz begeistert. Im Frühling durch die Weinberge und Wälder im Burgund zu wandern war sehr erholsam. Das Haus war ein gemütlicher Ort, wo man auch mal einen Regentag verbringen konnte. Besonders die Gastfreundschaft von Aline und Olivier machen diesen Platz besonders und man fühlt sich immer wieder sehr willkommen. Vielen Dank dafür und gerne auf ein weiteres Mal. "La maison jaune" Ein Ort, an dem man sich willkommen fühlt!

Das Haus liegt zentral im kleinen Weinstädtchen Givry in einer ruhigen Straße 100 m von einem kleinen Dorfladen und ca. 5 Min. von einem Bäcker entfernt. Es ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet mit vielen kleinen, gechmackvollen Details. Die Küche ist klein, aber gut sortiert, um leckere Mahlzeiten auf dem 2 -Flammen -Gasherd zu zaubern. Zum Essen kann man auch den romantischen Hof benutzen neben dem großen Garten, beschattet von alten Bäumen. Dort kann man ebenfalls das Auto parken. Das . Es gibt ein ruhiges Schlafzimmer mit einem Doppelbett, das angerenzende Bad ist ganz neu und sehr komfortabel. Im Durchgangsraum daneben befindet sich die Toilette und ein großes Sofa, dass sich zu einem Schlafplatz umbauen lässt. Für zwei Personen die ideale Größe, auch einen längeren Aufenthalt in Burgund zu verbringen. Givry bietet von seiner Lage her viele Möglichkeiten für Ausflüge in die kulturell interessanten Städte wie Cluny, Tournus, Beaune und Autun. Aber auch für Radausflüge nach Chalon sur Saône oder Taizé auf der "Voie Verte" oder Wandertouren durch die nahen Weinberge um Givry herum bieten sich an. In 20 Min. ist man mit dem Auto an einem See mit schönem Seebad (lac des laives). Das Beste am Haus sind jedoch die Gastgeber. Aline und Olivier geben einem das Gefühl, wirklich willkommen zu sein und teilen ihr Haus gerne mit Gästen. Sie spechen gut Englisch und Deutsch und sind gut orientiert über die aktuellen kulturellen und kulinarischen Angebote der Region. Tipps, die sie gerne an die Gäste weitergeben. Wir haben die Woche in Givry sehr genossen und werden gerne wiederkommen!

Aline and Olivier were so welcoming and always willing to give help and advice - their English was very good! The gite was full of character, very comfortable and clean - mind your head upstairs on the exposed beams. We enjoyed sitting in the lovely gardens. We will certainly return if in the area again.

Dass es sich hier um keine gewöhnliche Ferienwohnung handelt, ist ja schon auf den Fotos erkennbar. Liebevoll restauriert und dekoriert, mit vielen interessanten Details. Wunderschöne alte Möbel, das Bad aber modern und mit allem Komfort. Die auf den Fotos deutlich sichtbaren Balken im Obergeschoss befinden sich in ca. 1,70m Höhe. Für uns (<1,70m) war das kein Problem, für "große" Personen kann das aber vielleicht nervig sein. Die Küche ist zwar mit allem ausgestattet, aber wenn man "richtig" kochen möchte, stösst man vom Platz her wohl an Grenzen (Gasherd mit 2 Kochstellen, Arbeitsfläche nur auf dem Tisch). Da wir dort nur gefrühstückt haben, fanden wir die Küche urig und gemütlich und für unsere Bedürfnisse absolut ausreichend. Aufgrund des schlechten Wetters konnten wir leider die Wiese vor unserer Wohnung und den Garten nicht nutzen. Bei schönem Wetter könnte man dort wahrscheinlich wunderbar die Seele baumeln lassen. Bäcker und Restaurants sind gut zu Fuß zu erreichen. Zu den Gastgebern: Sie hätten einen Zusatzstern verdient! Sehr bemüht, herzlich, immer daran interessiert, dass alles in Ordnung ist. Madame Burat spricht sehr gut deutsch! Eine sehr sympathische Familie! Wir haben uns im "Gelben Haus" sehr, sehr wohl gefühlt und werden sicherlich irgendwann wieder dort Urlaub machen!

Aline is very quick and correct in mail communication. She was on holiday when we stayed in the yellow house, so we didn't meet. But everything was arranged through the friendly neighbor living down the street. The house is very nice, it's clear that is was redecorated recently. Great atmosphere inside and outside! The master bed is very good! For our son, we missed a separate second bedroom: the second bedroom is also the living room (with the kitchen downstairs). The large garden has a lot of privacy and a swing for the kids. Only downsize is that the beams of the house are somewhat low, so we had to bend if walking upstairs. The area is superb, particularly if you drive on the secondary roads.

Dans le calme de Givry, la "Maison Jaune" est très appréciable. Un grand jardin, un petit banc au soleil, des arbres pour faire de l'ombre. Un endroit fermé pour les enfants comme pour son véhicule. La description sur le site correspond parfaitement à la réalité. Nous sommes entrés dans un endroit bien entretenu. C'est la voisine de la propriétaire qui nous a accueillis. Charmante, elle a pris le temps de nous présenter le lieu, expliquer son fonctionnement et nous a conseillé de visiter certaines villes avoisinantes. A l'intérieur, il y a tout ce dont on a besoin pour un séjour. Le charme de la cuisine, probablement rafraichissant au plus chaud de l'été. Pour le salon et la chambre à coucher, qui sont très agréables, il faut se méfier des poutres apparentes, qui pourraient vous laisser un souvenir supplémentaire :) La salle d'eau est tout-à-fait fonctionnelle (débit d'eau de la douche, par exemple, "marche" très bien). Enfin, un compost, deux poubelles selon le tri : bravo. Bien situé pour qui veut faire la connaissance de la Bourgogne !

Excellente location en Bourgogne, située à deux pas du centre-bourg de Givry (tous commerces et... excellents restaurants dont "La Cadole"!) A noter l'accueil très convivial de la part de M et Mme Burat, lesquels se sont montrés particulièrement disponibles à notre égard. Nous avons passé une très agréable semaine en Bourgogne avec la route des Vins, les canaux mais également la visite des abbayes, églises romanes sans oublier Châlon, Tournus, Beaune et ses fameux Hospices... Une adresse à recommander !

Wir waren drei Wochen in der Ferienwohnung und haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt. Sie liegt sehr ruhig und dennoch zentral, so dass man alle wichtigen Dinge (Bäcker, Supermarkt, Apotheke etc.) zu Fuß erledigen kann. Die Ferienwohnung ist gut ausgestattet, sehr sauber und gepflegt. Ein großer, schöner Garten gehört zum Anwessen. Die Vermieterin und ihre Familie sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und haben uns viele Tipps gegeben. Sie sprechen gut deutsch und/oder englisch. Wir würden die Wohnung uneingeschränkt weiter empfehlen.
