About this chalet rental

Walk to Town 39A Alpine Chalet is a self-contained two bedroom holiday home on Lomond Crescent, Queenstown, with stunning lake and mountain views, alpine character, and direct access to the Ben Lomond walking and mountain biking trail from the doorstep. Sleeping up to five guests, it suits couples, small families, or a group of friends looking for a central Queenstown base with genuine character and outstanding outdoor access.

The interior has a warmth that sets it apart from standard holiday accommodation. Painted timber beams throughout give the chalet an authentic alpine feel that sits comfortably alongside modern finishes and a fully equipped kitchen. Two bedrooms, one bathroom, and an open plan kitchen and living area that flows out to a private patio with outdoor dining. Every bed is made up with crisp white linen and electric blankets — a detail that matters in Queenstown where evenings turn cold quickly regardless of the season.

The private patio extends the living space naturally and makes the most of the outlook over Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables. It is the kind of spot where you find yourself sitting longer than planned, whether over a morning coffee or an evening drink as the light fades across the mountains.

Central Queenstown is a short walk downhill, putting the lakefront, Steamer Wharf, Queenstown Gardens, restaurants, bars, and the gondola base station all within easy reach on foot. The Ben Lomond Trail starts virtually from the front door, making this an ideal base for walkers and mountain bikers. For day trips further afield, Arrowtown is a 25 minute drive, Coronet Peak ski field approximately 30 minutes, and The Remarkables around 40 minutes.

For larger groups, Walk to Town 39B Alpine Chalet within the same building sleeps five and is available to book separately through QT Luxe Stays.

Walk to Town 39A Alpine Chalet includes free Wi-Fi, dedicated off-street parking, and a private outdoor dining area. Available for direct booking through QT Luxe Stays.

A one-off service fee of $180 applies per stay, covering professional cleaning and premium linen.

Our family (with two teenagers) absolutely loved our stay at this incredible place. The location couldn’t have been better, just a short 5 min drive to the ski shuttle, which made getting to the slopes super easy, and close to town for quick trips to shops and restaurants (only 15 mins drive for larger supermarkets etc). Only a 4 min drive to the famous skyline and luge, and lots of spectacular walks all very close by.The views from the house were simply stunning; panoramic scenes of the lake and mountains that we never got tired of waking up to.The house itself was immaculately clean, spotless from top to bottom, and beautifully maintained. It had everything we needed and more, including thoughtful extras like basic pantry items, which made settling in even easier. The living spaces were warm and welcoming, with plenty of room for everyone to relax after a big day on the mountain. Our teens especially appreciated the fast Wi-Fi and space to chill out in the evenings. The property manager was excellent—friendly and quick to respond. We couldn’t have asked for a better base for our holiday. This place truly ticks all the boxes: location, comfort, cleanliness, and outstanding hospitality. We would return in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to other families looking for a special, stress-free escape.

Property was awesome.Great views.Nicely laid out and everything provided We didn’t walk to town but definitely possible for younger/fitter folkRead plenty about the steep driveway and it is definitely steep but after a couple of practice runs no problem Be careful when running shower and washing machine at the same time as the shower gets really hot!Apart from that we loved staying here

Take note! The chalet has two levels. The bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs so if you are older or have mobility issues which one of our party did have, this place is not for you. The bathroom has a shower in the bath and the climb into the bath is rather a high one. The bath itself has no anti slip mat in which could be a problem for you if you have mobility issues but also made showering a little scary as the bath is a little slippery. The chalet is very close to town and the gondolas, which was lovely. The views from the property are exactly as advertised - amazing! The chalet itself is a little tired and needs a little freshening up. The lounge is well furnished and modern. The two bedrooms have one with a king bed which has lovely views over the lake and mountains. The other room has a double bed in it and looks out to the back yard with a small side window that has a slight view of the lake. The drive way is incredibly steep to go up and so do as the owner says check it out before you ascend it. Over all we were comfortable and enjoyed our stay in Queenstown as we enjoyed the activities the town offered us.
