Uig and the Hebrides in general are the perfect place to relax and unwind. This scenic area of Lewis, on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, is an area of outstanding natural beauty with many unspoilt beaches, moorland, lochs and coastal scenery.
It is great for the hillwalker, fisherman/woman, nature-watcher, historian. The ever-changing light in the Outer Hebrides is of amazing quality for the photographer. Catch the early morning light or evening sunsets for breathtaking images.
Children-fly your kites, build sandcastles, run barefoot on sands, paddle in the incoming tide, float with body-boards,search the sea shore for crabs, swim if you wish!
Uig has its very own distillery at Abhainn Dearg which is just across the bay

Gorgeous cosy cottage with stunning views over the Uig sands. 3 generous double bedrooms, very well stocked kitchen including a double air fryer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, good WiFi. 2 minute walk to access the lagoon of Uig sands, we swam everyday. It’s a remote tiny village which really helps you get away from it all, but lots to do around the place, we did some lovely hikes, seatrek boat tour, visiting Luskentyre beach, and Butt of Lewis lighthouse. Loads of wildlife and saw white tailed eagles everyday Highly recommended and Christina was very responsive and helpful with our stay.

We had a wonderful stay of one week in this absolute lovely house whith its overwhelming surrounding landcape. Such a good atmosphere, very cosy and very welcoming. We enjoyed hikes and walks and sightseeing in the region, best informed by the leaflets and maps in the house. We really do hope to return and send a big Thank you to Christina for having us as her guests.

This is just an extraordinary place. Have some reluctance to represent it accurately, lest crowds descend and keep me from enjoying a repeat visit. Another aspect of any perspective I can offer is that I've little previous experience with this type of Internet rental. Yet I do suspect that the standard set here, by this owner, of clear, cordial communication and comprehensively thoughtful service, is quite rare indeed. So good luck to me--and to anyone else--hoping to have as good an experience elsewhere!

My husband had always wanted to visit the Outer Hebrides and we could not have found a better location to achieve that ambition. The house is practical and well equipped with everything you could need. There are wonderful views from every aspect and you are within easy reach of many beautiful beaches and places of interest. The situation is extraordinarily quiet and peaceful but there is a shop supplying most everyday needs just a short drive away and the town of Stornoway can be reached in about 50 minutes. Christina, the owner was consistently helpful, even when I managed to lose the house key on a nearby beach! All of us, ranging in age from eleven to 74 had a wonderful stay and I would recommend this property to anyone who wants to escape the hustle and bustle of 21st century life for a while.

We could not have asked for more, either from the house itself or the location. The house has everything you could possibly need, and more. It's a proper home with lots of interesting family history and photographs, whilst not being remotely cluttered. Lots of books and maps. The binoculars and telescope were used from the windows on a regular daily basis. Every day we saw golden eagles, white tailed sea eagles, a herd of red deer, wheatears, rabbits and much more - just from the house. The views were ever changing and stunning. My upstairs bedroom was just subliminal - I slept with the window wide open and could look over Uig sands from my bed. The comfiest bed I've ever slept in. So much to see and explore, straight out of the door. Christina was a very helpful and communicative host. We did not want to leave. Thank you.
