Ferienhaus Hinterzarten

Huge house, located in a peaceful location with great surrounding of the forest with complete privacy. Well equipped (spa, kitchen, laundry, wifi and big screen TV). We stayed for a week and it served as our “home” for our daily trips at the Black Forest. Our kids (and us) really loved our neighbors (the goats and horses :) Highly recommended.

This is a charming house in the small Hamlet of Bisten, on a hill above Hinterzarten. The house has two bedrooms with double beds, and a another room with two bunk bunk-beds and two single beds. You could have two families with three kids each in here, if you got along! There is a downstairs toilet & shower room, which also contains a utility room with washing machine. Upstairs is another bathroom with a toilet, a large jacuzzi bath (with hand-held shower) and sink. There is also a separate third shower downstairs next to the Sauna, but for some reason the hot water wasn't coming through to it properly during or stay. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven & hobs, a dishwasher and a microwave. It is small though and the fridge / freezer is also quite small for the number of beds in the house. There is a small kitchen table, big enough for us (two adults & 3 small kids) to eat meals at, and a larger 'proper' wooden dining table in the hall that can seat 8. Another small table for kids, complete with small kids chairs, is on the mezzanine level. There is a large TV which has NETFLIX, also a projector and screen that you can pull down from the ceiling, but I didn't know how / if it hooked up to the tv. Wifi was good. The house is at the end of a dead-end gravel track, with only a few neighbours and some fields. Horses and goats in the fields next door, kids loved it. Woods are full of squirrels. Only slight downside was the distant noise of main road to Freiburg in the Valley below, but it didn't really bother us. Hinterzarten is a lovely little village worth a little exploring. Has most things you need: an Edeka corner-shop, a bank (Sparkasse), some great little shops etc. The owner keeps an office on the level underneath the 'house' part. He's a lovely guy, really friendly and helpful, but not much English. Google translate is the way forward.

The fridge & freezer needs to be much larger. We were ok, but if our kids were older we'd have been making more regular trips to the shops. Water pressure - The house is in half way up a hillside in an isolated location, so it's probably not on the mains. It's no problem at all, just be aware it means the pump has to work hard, and filling up the jacuzzi bath takes about 30 mins! Fine for us, but this might be an issue if you stayed with 10 people who were older.

Een superplek om een week (of langer) in het Zwarte Woud door te brengen. Locatie is fantastisch; aan het einde van een doodlopende weg. Stukje de berg op en daardoor mooi uitzicht. Huis is ruim en comfortabel. Voorzien van allerlei gemakken. Drie slaapkamers (twee met tweepersoonsbed en een met 2 stapelbedden en twee losse bedden). Twee badkamers. Sauna en whirlpool. Hele vriendelijke eigenaar waar het makkelijk mee is om contact mee te hebben. Een deel van het huis (los met eigen ingang) kan hij gebruiken, maar hij woont er niet. Voor de oprit was het heel handig dat onze auto vierwielaandrijving heeft. Anders moet je even een aanloopje nemen.

Diverse kastjes waren aan het einde van hun latijn. Lades die gammel waren en kastdeurtjes die niet helemaal meer sloten. Keuken is van vele gemakken voorzien, maar heeft wel een betrekkelijk kleine koelkast. Zeker als je met een flink aantal mensen (kunnen er zeker 10 slapen) bent. Vaatwasser (heel fijn), onderste rek mist aantal wieltjes. Oftewel; hier en daar zou er wel wat aangepakt mogen worden. Daarom als oordeel een 9 i.p.v. 10, want de rest was echt perfect.
