Glenisle Cottage

Staff as always were wonderful...location is great, breakfast delicious.... The shower is excellent and the dressing room/ large closet is a plus...although quite a few of the light bulbs were out in it...

The cleaning had a little to be desired... had to wash the coffee cups before we used them, cooker surface was a bit dusty... but these are minor and easily sorted... Our main issue is the bed... its a double, small for 2 larger people, and the mattress is horrendous... very uncomfortable and felt well worn, the couch looks great and is comfortable enough but the recliners don't work... disappointing... the outside stairs could use some work, feel saggy and unsafe, like they might collapse....couldn't get air con to work....

We were met with a lovely welcome, the man at hotel reception was so friendly and gave us lots of useful info while showing us to our cottage. Throughout our stay, all the staff were fabulous. Breakfast menu was something to look forward to, and having a luxurious cooked breakfast each morning made the holiday feel special, while we had our self catering accommodation for preparing some of our own meals. It also had a surprisingly massive TV which was nice for a cosy film night. The hotel restaurant and beer garden were very pleasant and we enjoyed a meal there one evening. The cottage was bright, peaceful, comfortable, and Lamlash was a great base to wander about or take a short drive to one of the many interesting attractions to explore. Highly recommend the volunteer-run Arran Heritage museum, and the Woodland cafe at Brodick castle (there's a red squirrel hide in the grounds!) plus Kildonan beach, and Lochranza inn was also lovely (great food there too) and brilliant walking to Kings cave, or the more challenging Goatfell. We covered a lot in 4 days, could happily have stayed an extra week or more, will be back!

Would have been nice to have an option for earlier breakfast as it was 8-10, but that's a very minor thing as we still had plenty of time to get out to places quite early

Nothing

The cottage was very spacious. The staff were nice. The view from the cottage to the sea was great if the garden were tidier.

The coating on the pans had scratches, and they should not be used anymore, as it is a health risk. It was nice to see herbs growing in the garden, but the garden could be tidier, so the view from the balcony was more pleasant. For example, an old gate was in the way of the cottage door. The chairs in the restaurant had stains and the upholstery was damaged. Salt and pepper grinder are not clean.
