The host, Larkin, was quick to respond to any questions, and he let me know that the property was ready for early check-in.The vintage home was charming and easily accessible. The kitchen and bathrooms were updated and worked well. Despite the very cold weather, the house was warm and comfortable. The bedroom configurations were good for our extended family of 9.

First of all, this house is beautiful - it has been recently remodeled, but keeps all of the 100+ year charm - including the beautiful original floors and the low overhang on the stairs (so tall people take note!). All of the beds are high quality mattresses and the bathrooms are completely updated - whoever is lucky enough to stay in the master bedroom will have access to an amazing tub and a wonderful shower.Second, the property owners are very helpful and made great suggestions for activities, restaurants (check out the taco food truck on the weekends!), and breweries.Third, the property is located in a fairly quiet part of town (though I did hear a train once during the week we were there) with lots of sidewalks and nice places to walk. There are some restaurants and an ice cream shop within easy walking distance.I wish we'd stayed when it was a bit warmer so that I could have taken advantage of the beautiful wrap around porch. We did bundle up one day to sit in the sunshine on the porch swing. The kitchen is very well stocked with equipment and would be really great if you are cooking for a crowd (it has a large dining room table with leaves too). There isn't a driveway, but if you pull around to the side of the house, you can mostly get off the road and the road doesn't seem to be used very often.It was a very easy drive to Colonial Williamsburg (about 30 min) and Jamestown (about 45 minutes). I highly recommend this property.
