About this house rental
Breathe in the ocean air and unwind in this unique, character-filled beachfront retreat — Lofty Heights. Perched just steps from the sand, this coastal haven offers direct beach access, sweeping views, and the relaxed comfort of a classic New Zealand bach.
Due to recent storms some beachfront properties beach access has become very unsafe, and we ask that they are not used! Please us the public beach access two houses along.
🛏️ Sleeping Arrangements:
The master bedroom opens directly onto the deck with stunning ocean views – ideal for slow mornings and sunset evenings.
The second bedroom, located just off the main hallway, includes a cozy queen bed and natural light through garden-facing windows.
Up a rustic wooden ladder, the mezzanine loft is a perfect spot for reading or relaxing.
🍳 Fully Equipped Kitchen:
Everything you need is on hand — a full-sized fridge/freezer, oven, cooktop, microwave, toaster, and more, with easy access to the outdoors for al fresco dining.
🔥 Relax & Unwind:
The open-plan living area features high vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, a wood-burning fireplace for cozy evenings, board games, and uninterrupted views of the waves rolling in. Slide open the doors to let the sea breeze flow through or step onto the deck to enjoy a meal at the large outdoor dining setting under the umbrella.

Spacious decking, grassy lawn, and beachfront access make this home ideal for family BBQs, beach games, or just sitting back with a wine and a good book.
🚿 Bathroom Layout:
A central bathroom with a separate toilet provides convenience for groups and families.

The local dairy is only a 2 minte walk away for easy access to essentials, ice creams, or fish & chips! And the popular "Monty's Cafe located on the main Rd is a must visit during your stay- located at 502 Pukehina Parade.
Centrally located, Pukehina Beach is just a 15 min drive to Te Puke (past the golf club), 40 mins to Mt Maunganui and Tauranga (via toll road), or 60 mins to Rotorua and 40 minutes Whakatane – all excellent roads. If you need to refuel the boat BP is just 5 mins away.
Great location for the two popular nearby wedding venues at The Old Forest school and Estuary events.

Perfect family batch, our kids loved staying at Pukehina. House is right on the beach with nice elevation for views and privacy. We look forward to our next visit to Pukehina Beach.

My Kids and I had the best stay at Lofty's for 5 days over the new year. It was a great typical Kiwi batch with all the basics needed to have a great break away. Board Games, books, amazing front and back decks to chill out on, and the beach was absolutely beautiful great swimming. Thankyou Beach Rentals for making my first book a batch nice and easy.
We will definitely be back 😊

We had never stayed in a bach on the beach before, it was everything we hoped for. Clean, tidy, amazing views! We saw dolphins as the sun rose.
The worst thing was leaving and going home!

This property was great, had the feel of the old style bach and the location overlooking the sea was lovely.
However although this was about the best price we could find in Pukehina, this is nearly three times what we paid 10years ago.
Pukehina is no longer the affordable beach holiday it used to be. Most of the houses are residential now and the holiday feel has left the place. The pub is closed, and although someone is trying to make it work it is hard with the new demographic staying there. The beach is inaccessible from many beachside properties and is completely gone at high tide. A lot of the infrastucture such as the paths, tennis courts and bike track are just a bit run down.
Finally, someone broke into my car during the night, although there has always been some element of this in Pukehina.
For us the appeal has been lost and after 20years we are going somewhere else for our January holiday.
