About this apartment rental
We have highly discounted our rates. Please compare ours to other GROUND FLOOR UNITS (so no wasting time, walking to the back of the complex for the elevators), direct, ocean fronts (that have central air throughout the entire unit like ours, cost more due to much higher utility bills). Many condos only have a single, small A/C unit in living room window, by the floor. No air flow to bedrooms. Check their photos carefully.
The Direct Ocean front units enjoy breathtaking views, right on the water. Being the most desirable units, the rates are higher than units facing each other in the courtyard, or way in back, with no ocean views.
UNIT #117 is at the top rated, direct ocean/beach front, Kanai A Nalu that is vacation rentable until at least 2031. Every morning, relax on our DIRECT ocean front lanai (closest lanai to the shore) watching turtles popping up in the waves, and the sun coming up over Haleakala. Both unforgettable experiences. Our condo is very popular, giving us the highest number of reviews: 260, rated excellent.
We have a rare oversized lanai, a Select Comfort/Sleep Numbers ADJUSTABLE KING, central air in the living room and both bedrooms, updated appliances, three smart TV's and lots of amenities for families. Little ones are welcome, as I have seven grandchildren.
I apologize, my description is long. A Maui vacation is expensive. To get the most for you money and to help with your decision, I've added lots of photos and details. My condo is very personal to me. It's a relaxing retreat that I have created for my guests, and their children.
On over two tropical acres with an oceanside shower, solar heated pool, pool-side eating area and commercial BBQs, this is a great property. It's just steps to the beautiful, 4-mile long Sugar Beach, for snorkeling and sun bathing.

Starting around September 14th our complex is planning repairs to includes concrete restoration work causing noise and dust. I don’t know if the work will interfere with enjoying a stay at my condo. My guests spend much of their day: On the beach, at the pool, at the Harbor shops & Maui Ocean Center, craft fairs in Kihei, on the Road to Hana, upcountry wine tasting, visiting Haleakalā, the ʻĪao Valley, 1800’s town of Paia, doing The Old Lahaina luau, & visiting restaurants on Front Street in West Maui. No work is done on the weekends or past 5:00 pm. After a day trip, come back and enjoy the sunsets from the lanai. Depending on weather, work may last a few months. Due to this possible inconvenience, I have once more discounted my rates.
Most people picture in their minds their dream vacation, directly on a beach in summer, with magnificent sunrises, romantic sunsets, and being lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves.
My ground floor, ocean front, corner condo could fulfill that dream. When you walk in, the view of the ocean from the living room is awesome. When you go outside, the spectacular 180° views will take your breath away.
In winter when our beach is rocky, it's just a 1-minute walk to the "always sandy" SUGAR BEACH, the longest beach on Maui. If you visit my condo during whale watching season (Nov - Apr), experience the thrill of seeing them breaching out in the bay from our ocean front lanai. It's a truly unforgettable experience.
With our unit being ground floor, you don't have to walk up and down stairs multiple times a day to go to the beach, use the pool, or the BBQ's. And you don't have to carry luggage to the back of the complex, for the elevator.
Our condo has a "relaxed", tropical island feel with bamboo and rattan pieces. Those that want a contemporary, hi-end hotel-room look, can book one of the modern-look units that charge more. Some without offering central air. Maui can get up into the 90’s with the humidity at 80%. Central air is a must most of the year. One with built-in dehumidifiers is even better.
Some condo's main bedrooms are open to the living room with thin sliding walls, offering no insulation from the noise of others. Our main bedroom’s solid walls and locking door offers privacy and a quiet retreat. It has windows facing the shore, and the pool due, to its corner location.
The 2nd Bedroom has twins that can be converted to a king. In the living room is a Queen Sleeper sofa with a comfortable memory foam mattress.
The main bathroom has an oversized walk-in/roll-in shower (wheelchair accessible) with convenient hand held and wall mounted shower heads. The 2nd bathroom has a full-size tub with a shower above. Both have cooling ceiling fans, wall mounted hair dryers, and "comfort height" toilets for seniors or those with bad backs.
Besides the extensive list above, amenities also include children's dishes and utensils, 2 coffee makers, (K-cups and grounds), a toaster, a toaster oven, Ninja blender (for smoothies), hand blender, pots, pans, cook ware, dishes and wine glasses. My condo is just 1/4 mile from Maalaea Harbor, offering whale-watching trips, snorkeling excursions, and sunset dinner cruises. At the harbor are 4-star dining, gift and specialty shops, a Starbucks, the Maalaea General store, a gas station, Maui Golf and sports (fun park) and the renowned Maui Ocean Center—Maui’s top attraction.
Our location is perfect because Maalaea is centrally located. 15 minutes from the airport or Paia (reminiscent of a little Lahaina), 10 minutes from Kihei, 20 minutes to upcountry for wine tasting, 15 minutes from the breathtaking Iao Valley, and 18 minutes from upscale Wailea, for an authentic Hawaiian luau.
The photo of our complex was taken years ago. We had a lovely beach year-round. It starting disappearing in the winter of 2020. In the Spring & Summer during low tide, we have sand out front (see photos from July 2025). During winter's high tide, the beach out front is rocky. Please note the blue Adirondack chairs are no longer available. We kept the photo to show the amazing views. There are relaxing lounges for your enjoyment.
We are very fortunate that the ALWAYS sandy "Sugar Beach" starts just beyond our seawall. During high tide, guests can reach Sugar Beach through the complex next door, past their pool (best for seniors). If the tide is low and the sand is high, younger guests can enter between our seawalls.
Also, guests can take a 5-minute stroll along the sidewalk or an 8-second drive down Hauoli Street (to the right), where the road ends at Haycraft Park. The park offers parking, restrooms, and showers. It opens onto breathtaking Sugar Beach, a pristine, 4-mile-long stretch of sand where no development is allowed.
This shoreline is a habitat for Honu (sea turtles), where they lay their eggs. You might even spot them while snorkeling - just remember to keep the required distance. Be mindful that Maalaea, like many areas of Maui, can get breezy to windy in the afternoons as the trade winds pick up.
The condo is steps from a free parking spot (regular and handicap). It has wide doorways and is wheelchair accessible, but not ADA compliant. There are no steps or stairs.
Regarding Bill 9: Currently I have until Jan 2031 to l rent my South Maui condo. Attorneys filed a class action lawsuit representing condo owners on the Minatoya List (vacation rentals) against Maui County seeking preliminary and permanent injunctions. Stay tuned.

The stay was amazing! The apartment was super clean and beautiful. It was right on the shore and we saw turtles right outside our patio doors. There were six of us who stayed there and it was a unanimous thumbs up by everyone when asked if they would stay there again. Thank you, Diane for sharing your wonderful condo with us. We wished our stay was longer and will try to be back soon.

Great view of the ocean, she states that the shoreline is eroding away, so no surprise! A/C worked great when needed. Tons of stuff for kids to play with. Short walk to sugar beach and too harbor area. Beds were great in both rooms. Very clean all around.

Our family of four spent 15 days in the apartment. It is a great place equipped with everything that you may need to have a comfortable vacation. The location is very convenient to explore the island or just relax on the seashore.
