Comfortable, well equipped, in a pleasant quiet neighbourhood not far from Dumfries centre.

The house was very well equipped, met all our requirements in a party of four with some to spare. The instructions were clear and information was comprehensive both about the house and the area. The house is in a quiet residential area. The garden is spacious and sheltered with nice seating when the sun shines. The electric car hook up was a bonus and the charges very reasonable. Parking easy for two cars at the front and if required one at the back.

Home from home

Lovely home from home, very well kitted out, nice private garden, with garden furniture to enjoy it. Good space and toys for children. A bedroom and bathroom downstairs plus bathroom and bedrooms upstairs worked really well for our family. Great communication from host. Would visit Dumfries and stay here again.

A very happy time spent at Criffel Cottage

There was a wide range of additional touches that made this stay very enjoyable. Numerous games and toys for the grandchildren to use in the large garden and the games room, lots of very useful information on the area and local attractions, a washing machine (a Godsend with small children), lots of space in the house, two fully equipped bathrooms. Very clean and tidy and a real home from home feeling as soon as we walked through the door. The location is very quiet on a private road but only minutes from the centre of Dumfries.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ THE best house in Dumfries!

3rd time staying here in Janice's wonderful house. It's now our 1st choice when staying in Dumfries & we really don't want to stay anywhere else! It's perfect for our needs- 3 bedrooms with very comfy beds, lots of space, 2 bathrooms, big garden, very well equipped kitchen (we love to cook!), off road parking & excellent position close to where our local relatives live. It is also super clean and well maintained. Lovely bedlinen & lots of fluffy towels! Thank you Janice for sharing your family home with the world! It has become our special 2nd home in Dumfries & we are very attached to the place! See you again soon Criffel Cottage! 🩷😍🏡😊🩷

As Booking asks if there is anything that I don't like, I really have to think hard to come up with anything at all! These are very minor, and in no way stop us from coming back: The upstairs hot water pressure isn't great. I don't like the plastic lined mattress protectors- they made me sweat. I would suggest natural fiber ones. As we love to cook, I would appreciate an extra large pot for boiling pasta or potatoes in big quantities. And please more tea-towels. 2 for the week wasn't enough. But I am really just nit-picking now! We adore the place & it's THE best tourist rental house in Dumfries! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

criffel cottage was super clean and comfortable. it was equipped with everything you could possibly need and had great attention to detail. we travel extensively in uk and Europe with our athlete son and this is one of the best properties we have stayed in.

Beautiful cottage, well equipped, everything you need and really a home from home. Host was excelle

It was self catering. The location was good and not too far from town. But loved the cottage overall. The host was always helpful, and just an email, phone call or text away, if needed and there was nothing to fault. The cottage was very comfy and warm, and the games room was a bonus which kept our grown up kids entertained! The cottage had everything! It's in a nice quiet lane so it was good for our grown up kids, both of whom have autism and learning disabilities. Lovely big garden to enjoy when the sun did make an appearance. Well equipped kitchen with everything you need. This has to be the best holiday home we have stayed in by far. It was nice to have our own drive too. I would definitely be back and would recommend.

The long walk back from the town centre. It's not as easy as you think. Especially for older folk. And not a great bus service. The rain shower is a bit temperamental but didn't bother us, as we didn't use. But if there were any problems, Janice was just a phone call or text away.

Perfect family home from home!

Excellent position, near the town centre, in a quiet lane. Big, spacious and comfortable rooms. Big garden at the rear. Ample off road parking. Well equipped with everything you could need. Janice is a great host and very quick to respond. Our second time in this lovely house, and it has become our first choice when staying in the area.

A very enjoyable stay in a lovely, well equipped house.

This was our second visit to Criffel cottage and it was even better than we remembered. The house is very well equipped, handy for town and Dumfries makes a perfect base for touring. Once again everything went smoothly and the welcome pack and fresh potatoes were a nice touch. The beautiful weather was a bonus and allowed us to fully enjoy the large garden.

The cottage was a home from home Spacious: 2 bathrooms were a treat: fully equipped with everything you could ever need: secure parking and best of all a huge garden where we could sit out in the sun … and the invitation from the owner to pick the ripe good berries!

Great cottage and location for a Family holiday

We travelled as 4 adults and 2 young children, so the 2 bathrooms were perfect. They had everything for children from ball games, kids archery, board games, even a baby gate. There was a fantastic park just a 10 minute walk.. Dock Park with trampolines for the kids, a pkay park, a cafe toilets. Overall a great location for a family holiday and only about 30 mins drive to the beach.

An excellent break and especially in these 'covid times'.

We stayed at the cottage for a week, we quickly settled in and it felt like home. This is an indication of the facilities that were available at the property. The bed linen and towels were of the highest quality and what you would find at a high quality hotel. The host, Janice, kept in touch and was attentive to anything she may do to help during our stay.
