This comfortable and very well-equipped house is situated just outside of the hamlet of Vilar de Mouros and less than 10 minutes’ drive from the small town of Caminha at the estuary of the Minho river as it enters the Atlantic. The villa is surrounded by beautiful and remarkably spacious private gardens, with a number of shaded external seating areas and an excellent raised pool which provides views across the surrounding rolling countryside. Two outside cooking (grilling) areas are also available and the WiFi access is very good. The owners were extremely helpful and, indeed, generous (gifting wine, lemons, oranges, and fresh eggs), while being completely unobtrusive. Based on the location, the house is a fine base to explore the coastal towns of Viana do Castelo and Vila Praia de Ancora, and upriver to Valença, Monçao, and Melgaço (for access to a range of Alvarinho wines). For a peaceful and thoroughly relaxing stay in the northern Minho area of Portugal, this house strongly recommended.
