About this apartment rental
Votsalo is a seaside resort at Alykes bay in the Eastern part of Zakynthos. Driving through a wonderful olive grove you will find yourself in a quiet and peaceful spot where you will be able to enjoy the beauty of the mountains and at the same time the tranquillity of a private beach. The location is ideal due to a combination of desirable isolation and easy access to the fully equipped village center.
The votsalo resort is located at Alykes of Katastari. Alykes, which means salt lake, is known for the long coastline with beautiful, sandy beaches and warm, shallow, crystal clear waters. It is also one of the most well-organized areas of Zakynthos offering a plethora of exciting water sports, trips to the world famous shipwreck and blue caves, vibrant night life, delicious local food, carriage rides with horses, ideal for families and couples. The village center provides all kinds of services like supermarket, cafe, restaurants, pharmacies, public health center etc.
The votsalo resort is developed on two levels. The main building which is a semi-finished new construction lies on the upper level offering an amazing view where you are able to see the sun rising from the sea. At the lower level extends a 500 m² open space suitable for relaxation, reading, enjoying the sun and playing games. Sunbeds, umbrellas, beach tennis rackets, canoe kayak, masks for diving, wind surf and inflatable water toys are at your disposal. You will have the unique opportunity to experience the convenience of your almost private sea.
The apartment consists of two master bedrooms with double beds, a fully equipped open-plan kitchen and a bathroom. The place is accommodated with air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi access. Free parking and washing machine are also available.
Upon your arrival you will find the apartment with a clean set of bed linen for each bed and a clean set of towels (for body, face and feet) for each guest. You can clean the apartment by yourself since everything you need for cleaning is provided (broom, dustpan, mop etc). You will be provided with a clean set of bed linen and clean towels every five days. Please bring your own towel for the beach.
Zante's landscape variety provides a wonderful scenery of traditional villages in the mainland, where you can explore mediterranean architecture, wineries and extended olive groves. You can taste the local wines, raisins, oil, food and desserts. The Southeast part of the island is characterized by beautiful, sandy, well- organized beaches with warm, shallow waters, such as Gerakas beach (one of the last protected areas in the world for the Caretta-Caretta turtle), Banana beach, Azzuro beach, Alykes and Alykanas. In the northwestern part of Zante the ionian sea sculpts the edges of the island forming breathtaking beaches such as the world's famous Shipwreck Cove, the Blue Caves,Porto Limnionas and Porto Roxa.

I was excited for the stay at this property – the pictures looked stunning and I loved easy access to the beach! Out of my 12 days island hopping in Greece, this was the nicest property I chose for my partner’s birthday. However, despite seeing all the pictures, this cute apartment still surprised me! It’s extremely spacious, beautifully decorated, and the hosts are just amazing! We didn’t meet Kostas, but his mom – the sweetest lady – greeted us, gave us a tour, and even baked a yummy cake for my partner’s birthday! They also gave us plenty of recommendations for things to do on the island! This stay was absolutely unforgettable and I hope to come back one day. The ability to use kayaks, floaties, and a bunch of other stuff was a nice touch! Just be aware of the fact that the beach is pretty shallow on that side of the island and you have to walk for a bit to get to deeper parts. The drive to the property is through an olive tree grove and you have to park under olive trees…it was so picturesque, I didn’t want to leave! Oh, and while you’re there, check out Skinos restaurant. It’s a short ride from the property and the staff over there made our stay in Zakynthos so much more fun!

Prior to arriving we had seen the wonderful pictures and read the positive reviews but still our stay at Votsalo managed to exceed our own high expectations.
The property is managed by Kostas & family and therefore benefits from a personal touch. Every detail and convenience has been considered, all making for a very comfortable stay.
As a couple and now a family of 3, we have been coming to Alykes for almost 20 years. This property is up there as arguably the best we have been fortunate enough to stay in while holidaying in the area.
Location wise it's ideal with unobstructed views of the sea and access to a private beach. Downstairs the garden is a great place to relax. Kayaks are provided should you want to kayak in the clear waters of the Ionian.
For restaurants, bars and shops, the property is an easy 10-12 min stroll into town.
Communication with Kostas before and during our stay was always excellent.
We very much hope to return to Votsalo in the not so distant future.
