Well maintained gravel road and community. Our cabin is quaint and rustic; you'll find yourself spending most of your time on the large screened in porch for morning coffee, relaxing, and nature gazing throughout fall, spring, & summer and then nestled inside with hobbies during cooler months! The wrap around deck is perfect for year-round star gazing.

Just as described and just what we needed. The back porch is EVERYTHING, and stargazing for hours on the outdoor deck was a joy. Thank you!

The cabin was just as lovely as advertised. It sits on a winding, picturesque gravel road that prompts the relaxation frame of mind. With no WiFi available, it forced me to relax instead of getting in a little bit of work. Our only point of dissatisfaction was the bed in the master bedroom - it was much more firm than we are accustomed to. However, everything else was exactly what we were hoping to find. Lastly, the property owner/manager was fabulous. She communicated promptly and ensured we got the most out of our visit.

My friend and I work in high pressure health service jobs and needed a weekend away to reset. The cabin was the perfect size for us, and we could have easily brough along a coupler others had we wanted. It was a very hot and humid weekend and I was skeptical about the one AC in the main room, but it cooled the entire place, thanks to all the fans throughout the home. Although there are cabins all along the road, Cardinal Cabin is set back from the road, behind a field and surrounded by trees. It was very quiet and we felt away from it all but able to get out to the rest of the world in about 15 minutes. As all the reivews mention, a favorite space for coffee and later our wine, was the very large enclosed porch. We spent the day checking out Gaylynn's suggests for hikes at Dark Hollow Falls and Stony Mountain trail and checking out Luray Caverns. I am a big fan of quirky area attractions so we also visited Patsy Cline's grave and checked out Dinosaur Land. Some travellers may wish to bring along bottled water. The water is drinkable and I liked it but we had to run it a bit for the sulpher/mineral scent to fade. My friend couldn't quite get herself to try it after so we just grabbed her a bottle from the area grocery. As I said, I thought it was just fine.We could only stay 2 days, a 3rd or 4th would have been very helpful for adding time on the river and just relaxing on the porch. It is on my list for a place to return to soon.
