Basic.No frills,but happy with that.

This property can allow you to have a break away from all the modern electronics that we have today. It gave me a feeling of being back in the 70’s, but it is a comfortable bungalow with an excellent view. The countryside provides for some excellent walking amongst sand dunes and along the seashore. The local natives are very friendly

We stayed here the year before last and it was just as quiet.
The weather was vile which was no suprise but the cottage was warm and very comfortable. The picture window in the sitting room lets you see what the elements are throwing at the Welsh coast whilst snug as a bug.
The cottage is not luxurious but every thing we needed was there and all works. For the price we love it. My only problem is that to get from the car to the property you have to walk up a grass frontage, not a drama in nice weather, but it has been tipping down for i would guess, weeks and the grass was very treacherous and any one who has mobility issues would be advised to think about renting. Shame. Over all very happy with our stay. Thank you for having us.

The accommodation has everything you need. It could be seen as little outdated in areas, but for us it was charming and a tad retro. The weather wasn't very good during our stay, but the house was clean, warm and cosy and we felt very comfortable. The view from the living room is beautiful, there was even a stag outside the house one afternoon! The location is great and just a 10 minute walk to the most beautiful beach.

We stayed for 5 nights over New Year’s Eve and the property was super cosy and warm! Stunning view from the lounge, kitchen and master bedroom and we managed to see one sunrise on the beach which was spectacular. Also saw 3 deer in the massive dunes at Merthyr Mawr. Our kids, 12 & 13 and us really loved lounging on the plush sofas watching the great dvd collection and tv channels as well as gazing out of the huge window to watch the kitesurfers with the binoculars. Return to London super relaxed. Many thanks for everything.

We loved our stay here. The fabulous location and views more than make up for the little bits that need repairing or updating. We will return again and again hopefully. The drains need looking at though due to bad smell when taps run. Curtains need rehooking, bathroom hot tap dripping. Outside light broken, and is needs repairing as no street lights after dark. Could do with knowing there is no back garden though,as we had our dogs with us. Did message owner on arrival over something, but never received a reply but pre arriving, comms were very good. Fantastic views and quirky, basic facilities, but our favourite welsh holiday ever .

We had a great stay. The walk to the beach was through paths of greenery and sand dunes. Walked the beaches every day, had the experience of walking through the estuary in shallow water to Ogmore-in-sea, which is a fantastic place for walkers.
Porthcawl was good for entertainment and shopping

Breathtaking views
Breathtaking views
We knew from other reviews that we were going to stay in a bungalow that offered comfort not mod cons. I like to use the word ‘vintage’ we loved our little home for the week.
Anyone with mobility issues this isn’t for you. The bungalow is at the end of a road full of potholes up a hill. Once there the view really is amazing.
We were visited by deer and a peacock that wandered about from the woods behind us.
To get to the beach, you head down the path for a couple of minutes and on the right is a sign, pathway. Head down there, it forks off, left jump down into a Sandy path or right follow the path through the woods, both take you to the sand dunes, walk a bit further and you are on the beach. Fantastic for dogs and just getting away from it all! We went surfing school in Porthcawl, get lunch there too! We went to Barrie island ( very commercial) and took our paddle boards. we went to Brecon and did the four waterfall trail. We also went to do the zip wire in Brecon.
Absolutely amazing week away, we also were lucky enough to have hot weather! Steve is a great host, was really helpful! His neighbor called Warren was also very nice. Would I go back again? DEFINITELY! We absolutely had a fab week away. Thanks so much Steve, will be back soon!

Great quiet break.
Great quiet break.
Mr Williams was very helpful with directions and other information.
The bungalow is extremely comfortable. We have stayed at many a lovely property all over the U.K only to be let down by nice looking but uncomfortable furniture. Not in this destination. We were very pleased with the size of the accommodation and the splendid views.
Where we were most happy was after a nice long walk on the beech the warm living room with big picture window and huge seating unit gave us the perfect place to relax. We have stayed at more luxurious (and expensive) accommodation but can find no fault with what is on offer; and would holiday there again in a heartbeat.
Thank you.

Peaceful & great view
Peaceful & great view
We have had a comfortable stay. There was everything we needed and the view is spectacular. We primarily booked to avoid our inner city firework displays in search of peace for our dog and although there were some local fireworks in comparison this was pawfect for our requirements. Thank you Steve.

A warm, comfortable and spacious bungalow. Old fashioned but querky. Lovely long walks from the property. (If you like these) not suitable for wheelchair users or difficulty in walking)The weather was kind which is always a bonus. As listed, a very bumpy and pit holed track up to the property!!

Perfect for us
Perfect for us
Providing you want 'out the way' and understand you need a car to get to the local shop/pub etc and you expect an older style home, this house was perfect and great value for money. It really is out of the way situated , down a private windy road, in a raised postition within a short walk of the sand dunes and a 15 minute walk onto a lovely big dog friendly beach. If you are looking for a quiet , peaceful, dog walking style holiday, you lke the idea of a walk through the and dunes with the dogs and the kids to get to a beach which is often quiet due to its location, then this is perfect for you. The house inst full of mod cons, its basic , BUT very homely and warm, it has a lovely 'feel' to it and the carpets and bedding clean and fresh and the first thing you notice when you go into the lounge is the 'wow' view of the beach in the distance. There is plenty for the kids to do, a side board full of dvds and a cupboard full of games and a grass green out the front of the house they can play on. The double bedroom has a view of the sea from the side of the house and the back room has three full sized single beds in it. Adequate bedding , pillows and blankets. The bathroom has a nice deep bath and a shower cubicle and the kitchen has a table in the middle for family meals and you can see that lovely view from the window. To get to the beach you walk a few hundred yards down the road to a footpath and through the dunes. It isnt a smooth road or footpath, so be aware of that, those not steady on your feet it may not be for you. We, however loved it! The house is well situated to drive to porthcawl , where we found adequate take aways and entertainment including a fun fair for the kids and a bit further up you have Rest bay, idea for surfing. The other way you have ogmore by sea, the castle and stepping stones, southerndown beach, all scenic areas and about half an hour away we drove to barry island for more fun fair fun for the kids. Who does it suit the best? a good base for the local area for sightseeing,. people who like views, dont mind being right out of the way of everyone, those who enjoy walks in nature, dog owners, those with kids who want to get back to nature or who want a family home to go back to after a day out, but equally want entertainment a car drive away, the only thing im hoping im not doing with this review is making it so appealling that it gets booked up before i can book up my holiday there again next year! :-)

Beautiful location, great value
Beautiful location, great value
Bungalow has retro charm and large window with beautiful view of the coast. We walked from the bungalow through dunes to the beach with dog nearly every morning, pony trekked at ogmore riding centre onto the beach, body boarded at rest bay, had a trip to oxwich bay to see friends and paddle boarded, lovely coffee and cakes at glass cafe on porth cawl front, took kids to fun fair. The bungalow has a large shared green outside perfect for dogs and kids. Owner really helpful and friendly.

Comfy, homely cottage
Comfy, homely cottage
Plain and basic which is what we wanted with small children and a dog. We walked to the beach in the evening, the kids thoroughly enjoyed the terrain. We parked at Newton beach when we had more stuff to carry, it's literally at the beach. It would be great if You invested in Wifi Steve and you definitely need a "mind the step" sign on the lounge door as I went flying. Would defo go again.

We stayed here for two nights, wish it could have been longer. It is a great little home, had everything you could need, and the view from the sitting room , wow you could not help but relax. Lovely walks with dogs, close to Porthcawl a few miles away and Cardiff only half hour away. Would stay again definitely. Our dogs loved it too :) . Thank you very much for letting us stay.
