Thompson Falls is located in the 'Banana Belt' of Montana and a mild climate. It is not uncommon to be in the 90s in mid summer.

So, if being outdoors is your thing, bring sun block and head to the river.

The town itself is a short drive from the house. It is a quaint little logging community with a population is approximately 2000 and has gas, restaurants, ice cream shop, grocery store, fishing supplies and licenses.

Golfers will enjoy the gorgeous local golf course which is situated next to the Clark Fork River approximately 20 minutes.

Thompson Falls is a sparsely populated town and area but that is one of it's best attractions. Locally, you can fish and/or swim in the Clark Fork River, Thompson River or go for a hike to many of the mountain lakes and trails that are very close. Huckleberry picking is also abundant once they are ripened. You can also drive up to Forest Service lookouts on Cougar and Eddy Peak for spectacular views of the area. If you enjoy relaxing and reading, the front deck of the house is perfect for both. You can take a leisurely walk from the house and see the Clark Fork River while walking on the foot bridge and also see the Thompson Falls Dam and newly constructed Fish Ladder. While in town The Old Jail Museum is an interesting piece of history.

As far as other activities within driving distance, Silverwood Amusement and Water Park is located approximately 100 miles from Thompson Falls. You can easily drive to Coeur d' Alene, ID (90 miles) and Spokane, WA (125 miles) by taking scenic Thompson Pass which is a beautiful drive and do some exploring along the way. As you drive over the Thompson Pass and enter Idaho, you will come to the quaint town of Murray, ID where you can stop at the Spragpole Inn and Museum get some great food and check the history of the area. As you drive further toward Coeur d' Alene and Spokane you will find many places to picnic and site see along the Little Coeur d' Alene River. Once you reach Coeur d' Alene and eventually Spokane, you will find shopping and city attractions that you may or may not want to indulge in.

Glacier Park is 141 miles from Thompson Falls. It is a wonderful site to see but more densely populated than the peace and tranquility of Thompson Falls.

This house had everything you could ask for! It was in a great location and close to town. It's also a great middle point to head out and explore the surrounding areas. Whitney was great and very accommodating. Thanks for the great place to stay.

Thompson Falls is one of our favorite places to visit! The home we rented was more beautiful than the pictures! It had everything there we needed, was very modern and comfortable! We slept good in the bed, it was extremely comfortable. We especially enjoyed the porch swing during our morning coffee time! We found the restaurant on the water this year, I don't know how we missed it last year since it is right down town. The food was great and we were able to get a drink and celebrate Fathers Day! Thompson River is the best fishing we've found in Montana and is one reason we put this spot on our list to visit every June! Also thank you James for installing Internet, it was fast and we appreciate you accommodating us! I can't think of anything that could have made our stay better! Thanks again for sharing your home!Cindy and John
