We had a family reunion nearby this cabin and it was simply a wonderful place to stay. Great for my family.

I realize this is a cabin & not a house. When we arrived, things seemed great. We noticed that there was some mouse or other creature droppings in the kitchen area & spider webs with live spiders throughout. There were toys left strewn about & many moths along the baseboards. We eventually found an open water bottle & hair scrunchie on the floor above the master headboard. There was the smell of marijuana coming from the shed & trash strewn outside. Overall, not a great first impression, but tried to make the best of it. We had no water by the end of the 2nd day, which was compounded by us going hiking & being outside the entire day. We just wanted to get showers. We couldn't clean up from dinner either, which I'm sure didn't help the rodent issue. I spend the entire evening trying to get it to work. I messaged the owners late and didn't expect and answer until morning. We couldn't cook breakfast since we couldn't clean up. PB&J's for breakfast wasn't the plan. We couldn't flush the toilets & the house was starting to smell like and outhouse at this point. I kept working on the water issue all morning & throughout the day. I texted and left a VM for the owners. Their phone went straight to VM. I called VRBO in the afternoon since I was debating just leaving & calling our weekend a loss. Spoke with VRBO, they tried contacting the owners as well. I got a call back shortly afterwards at 1:39, but missed it since I was going back & forth with the water. The VM left wasn't much help. I decided to give it one last try & we actually got the water to work. Although, my moment of joy was short lived & it petered out shortly after. We did manage to get 2 showers in the meantime. It was later in the afternoon & the family was hungry, so I decided to cook on the grill that we brought. I was afraid of starting a fire & not having a way to put it out, but we needed to eat. Kept debating on working on water or just leaving. Completely wasted the day on trying to get water to work so we could at least have the basics. We decided to stay since it was a long day & late at this point. I intended to spend the weekend reconnecting with my family after a long summer & losing my dad in June. It was nothing close.I never went anywhere and said I needed a vacation before even leaving the place we left. I sent several messages to the owner & got a response on the 9th about being in contact soon. Haven't heard back since. Really frustrated & disappointed . Ref 28840774
