That's where you'll be when you enjoy an unforgettable vacation at 'Hale Kekaha', our only premium ocean front unit, just 26 miles from the Lihue Airport, and a world away from the maddening crowds. With an average annual rainfall of less than 20 inches, you can almost guarantee yourself a sunny vacation... regardless of the time of the year. Why gamble with your vacation, by staying on the North Shore, where rain can be all too common? Swimming, surfing, sunbathing, watching the sunset whatever your pleasure, you'll find yourself living a dream as you marvel that anyplace on earth can be so perfect.

This non-smoking plantation style unit is located near Waimea Canyon (the Grand Canyon of the Pacific) and Barking Sands Beach, with convenient access to restaurants, movie theater, shops, markets, and the famous Jo-Jo's shave ice. The condo-style unit has been recently remodeled and redecorated by a well known designer, and is loaded with amenities that will make you feel instantly at home. Quality furniture and linens, tile floors, and lots of windows to take in that view. One bedroom has a king bed, and the second bedroom has two double beds, which are much roomier than those standard twin beds you find elsewhere.
There is a gas BBQ to make it a pleasure to cook at home.

This is no tourist trap. There are no hotel resorts, no vendors hawking cheap souvenirs. Just an endless expanse of pristine beach and warm surf and spectacular sunsets, with friendly people who offer the 'spirit of aloha' with each greeting. It's like traveling back in time to the Hawaii of yesteryear, the perfect getaway from the cares of everyday life.

Swaying coconut palms, balmy breezes, sandy beaches, warm ocean water, and days of sunshine. All the ingredients for a perfect ocean side vacation in Kauai, at Hale Kekaha.

The ground floor apartment, with patio, was very accessible and very clean. All the typical amenities were present and the kitchen was stocked well with all necessary utensils, pots, pans, and coffee makers. Great views of both the sunrise and sunsets. Good sandy beaches to walk and lay on are within walking distance. And the town of Waimea is a short, scenic drive away. Directions to get to, into, and to clean up the space were clear and easy to follow. Lot’s of guidebooks were in the space which was appreciated. We wanted a space away from the more “touristy” spots; and this space met our expectations. Reasons for four stars instead of five:- Highway 50, which runs right between the house and the ocean, is a bit of a nuisance (though we knew what we were getting). Still, more noisy than anticipated—especially the periodic motorcycles which go faster than the posted speed limit of 35 mph.- There is no beach front directly in front of the house. But one can hear the ocean waves “crashing” against the rocks constantly (which is pretty cool.)- There is only one smallish air conditioner in the entire space, so everything but the main bedroom can get pretty warm. Very stuffy in bedroom #2. Fans are provided which did help some with ventilation. - The couch in the living room is NOT comfortable at all—with no comfy footrest. The host would do well to replace that thing for something that doesn’t make one’s tush go numb after 10 minutes. And I’m serious about the numbness.

We really enjoyed our stay here. My wife commented that this is the cleanest place that we’ve ever stayed on vacation. Located on a quieter part of the island. Beautiful sunsets from the front lawn. We cooked dinner here a few times and the kitchen was stocked with everything that we needed. Thanks for a great stay.

Was a relaxing stay, everything that was needed to enjoy the stay was there. Some traffic at times but that was no big deal, beats a hotel or tourist area anytime.

The view of the open ocean was the best from the porch; however, the road between property and ocean was like a freeway from at least 6am until after 1am. Loud trucks and they drive fast with passing on the 2-lane road in front of property. The kitchen was more like studio apt kitchen but enough. One bathroom with a toilet so low to the floor. More like a toilet for pre-school children. The place had one window AC unit (not central) that really only cooled the one bedroom. Very noisy unit and if you left the bedroom door open it cooled the living room a little but not the second bedroom. You really could not leave doors open for a breeze because bees, wasps, fly's and etc. would fill the home. One child has a bite from a wasp. Ants in master bedroom and a pillow fell on the floor which most likely ants hitched a ride back onto the bed. We had ants in the bed the next evening. Couple of plugins sparked when plugging in devices in master bedroom and in living room. Fun location for 1 or 2 nights but for a lengthy stay it was just too far away from restaurants, beaches and Poipu
