About this apartment rental

Located at 12 Falls Courts - formerly 13 North Street. Apartment #5 is a very well maintained and equipped apartment perfect for those who need a comfortable, care free home base that is located within easy distance of great sight seeing spots in every direction. Whether you are vacationing or temporarily working in the area, this apartment will be your home away from home. If Maine Coast Memorial Hospital or Jackson Laboratory brings you to the area, this apartment is located within 10 minutes of the hospital and 12 minutes of Jackson Laboratory's new research facility in Ellsworth.

The first floor has a large eat in kitchen with seating for 6-8 facing a large deck and back yard with distant views of forest. If you like to cook, the kitchen has everything you need either to eat in or to entertain guests. In addition to the large refrigerator and full range, there is a microwave, toaster, blender and programmable coffee maker. Weather permitting, lounge and dine on the deck. A barbecue grill and patio table and chairs are available for your use.

Lounge downstairs on a comfortable couch that doubles as a futon if you have a guest. If you can't leave your work behind, there is a desk and fast internet connection.

The flat screen Roku internet televisions have Netflix, Hulu and local network and public broadcasting channels. Or watch a movie on DVD. If you subscribe to any premium channels or Amazon prime at home, simply type in your credentials and watch those channels on demand.

The downstairs bathroom has a 3/4 size tub and shower with overhead heating for chilly mornings or evenings. Towel sets and bathmats are provided. If you need to do a load of laundry, a coin operated washer and dryer is only a few steps away.

The spacious upstairs features a queen size bed and two twin futons that can be used as beds or lounge chairs for some cozy reading. Sleeping is family style in an open floor plan. Plenty of closet, dresser and shelving space for you to spread out without feeling cramped. Extra bed linens are provided.

The apartment is centrally located between Bangor and Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island. It is an excellent home base for exploring the area in every direction. You can hop on a bus or ferry to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor and leave the worries of the car behind. Drive Downeast along the coast to see lighthouses, blueberry fields and fishing villages. Or take in the natural beauty of the Blue Hill Peninsula with visits to Blue Hill, Deer Isle and Stonington. Or keep it close to home for shopping and dining in Downtown Ellsworth - the heart of our city.

Ellsworth's newest rails to trails allow you to walk from the apartment to Downtown away from the busy road. If you enjoy biking, the new Downeast Sunrise Trail is a short distance away. The opportunities for sight seeing are endless.

There are 4 other units in the building but are separated from this apartment which is in a separate wing. The other tenants are courteous and quiet.

Although the apartment building is located in town, the backyard has a rural feel. There are many acres of forested trails that you are welcome to walk. All the houses in the neighborhood are owned by the same owner who lives on the homestead and is dedicated to providing a safe and well maintained campus.

The neighborhood was established in the mid 1800’s when the lumber trade was flourishing and logs were driven down the Union River. The historic buildings remain today most notably the Union Congregational Church which is still in service and is adjacent to the campus.

We are always available to provide anything you need for a comfortable stay but also understand that folks need privacy and their own space. We have made every effort to make this an affordable place where you can relax and feel at home.

This property is part of a large homestead including other buildings, gardens, lawns, trails and forest. If you are looking for lodging for a large group, we have three houses on campus on VRBO.

A small mature and well behaved dog is allowed for $100 per stay subject to certain house rules. Please let us know if you are bringing a dog in advance.

Perfect place for a single person with a small service dog. Great location with a nice grocery store nearby. The property was amazing: a few chickens and rooster, ducks, and an owl along with 2 large friendly dogs. The staff was friendly and quite helpful. Denise was so kind to loan out her food processor and Oceania made sure the unit was spotless! Will be returning!

Denise and David's home was a perfect stay for me and my fiance! It offered all of the comforts of home and led to a very relaxing vacation. And what a welcome relief that we could bring our dog! The house is just 6 minutes away from the center of town, offering a quiet respite with easy access to all that Ellsworth and Acadia offer. It is also right at the end of a rail-trail, perfect for biking or walking to/from town. The grounds are expansive, and we (especially the dog) loved watching the ducks parade to the small pond in the back yard every morning while we sipped our coffee on the sunny porch. You could tell that Denise emphasized maintaining the property well, as everything from the house to the grass was pristine and well-kept. Denise was a consummate and caring host, even taking care to cover my bicycles with a tarp in the rain. She made the whole process simple and communicated clearly and actively. We could not say enough about our stay!
