Excellent location walking distance to a lot of interesting shops and restaurants. Beautiful view and beautiful rental property. The furniture and decorations were exceptionally beautiful. The house is charming and the history very interesting. The silverware, china, pots, etc. were abundant and the dishwasher was a big plus. The owner was very accommodating and responsive to our needs. The attached cottage was beautiful and welcoming. It was airconditioned very nicely. There was sufficient parking on the property and surrounding area for a party of 60+ people that we held one evening.
The rental of this unique and beautiful property allowed us to create wonderful family memories which will last a lifetime.
We were there during a heat wave. The main house does not have central air. The bedrooms upstairs have individual portable air-conditioner units however the units did not adequately cool four of the five bedrooms. In two of them the temperature was in the 90's. And some of the units leaked water that dripped through the first floor ceiling.

This grand old house provided a venue for my family and friends to gather in one spot. There were a lot of us visiting from out of town and no one still living in the area had enough space for all of us. While the circumstances calling us all back to Niagara Falls were unfortunate, the Niagara Gorge Mansion (known to us as the Barton House) offered us a “home away from home” setting to share invaluable time together. Good memories were made to soften the sad family event. Of course, Center Street Lewiston has a variety of dining, shops, activities to enjoy as well as truly being 5-ish minutes from Niagara Falls attractions.
Having grown up in the area (Town of Niagara) I knew the history of the property but wasn’t sure what to expect from the inside. At over 200 years old there are certain things that lend character and charm, that leave a bit to be desired regarding cleanliness/amenities. Some of the windows aren’t sparkling, the original/older floor boards are showing their age and making their presence known (squeaky), no powder room/toilet on the main floor, and some of the light switches aren’t where you’d expect them to be. All of these things were manageable if you bear in mind the setting. If you are looking for sterile, corporate hotel/resort setting this house is probably not going to please you.

there was no heat till 10:30pm on the day of arrival. also the fireplace flue was not cleaned making the entire house smoke when we used the fireplace.
