Very misleading, overpriced and disappointing

Room was nice, decorated well and reasonably comfortable.

The TV remotes barely worked, only 1 mug provided so I had to have my coffee out of a measuring jug. No dishwasher tablets provided so not able to use the dishwasher. Opening the dishwasher was horrendous, the smell coming out of it smelt like hot sick. The facilities time slots are a joke, for the amount they are charging for the rooms to only be given a 1 hour time slot is disappointing. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADVERTISED WHEN BOOKING. I made the mistake of booking our stay here and then was told that we only had access to the facilities for 1 hour per day. Our time slot was from 2100-2200, not exactly optimal times to be honest and offered very little flexibility. We realized that the facility was also a spa and the people coming in for spa treatments likely had access to the spa too which were assuming is why the time slots offered are so late. Additional time in the spa is also an additional charge, again a joke considering what they are charging for the room. When I inquired about changing my time slot I was told that I had to contact them 24-48 hours prior to my arrival, I was dumfounded by this at the time as I couldn't understand why they couldn't plan for than 48 hours in advance, I'm assuming now that this is because they wait for the spa appointments to be booked in before giving time slots to the guests staying there. Either way it left a very bad taste in my mouth. If you're staying in the woodland lodge you can hear everything from the facilities room when people are inside there. We didn't use the outdoor seating area for the room but it is not very private like the pictures allude to. It is situated right next to the hot tub which was being used majority of the time, if you open the blinds on the kitchen window you can also see whoever is using the hot tub so again not very private.

Brilliant couples retreat

The room was beautiful and the whole place was decorated brilliantly. The room and facilities were easy to access and we weren't too far away from places by car.

The only issue we had was the WiFi not working during the stay as the password provided didn't work, and we couldn't get the jets to work in the swimming pool.

Amazing experience from start to finish

The whole property is amazing, from the decor outside and in!! The whole property had a feeling of welcoming and warmth. I stayed with my daughter as a birthday treat to myself and we both throughly enjoyed ourselves. I opted to add the cooked breakfast onto our stay which was absolutely delicious. We have already decided we will be back in the warmer months to enjoy sitting out in the garden. Highly recommended

The car park could do with better lighting, we arrived early evening and the property was already dark with only the odd light here and there in the carparking area, we used the torches on our phones to navigate to the entrance

Had a couple of privacy issues when we had our allocated private spa time other guests were walking through the the pool area and when my wife was half dressed some chap walk up to our garden area and looked at our room through the window I just think this was another guest being nosy lol but overall a fantastic place to stay

A relaxing and enjoyable two night stay.

Beautifully decorated room, very clean and comfortable. We loved our hour slot in the spa, the facilities were fabulous, the outside was magical, and the staff were extremely friendly.

Our room was beautiful but small with only coffee and tea facilities with no fridge, which would have been useful. We chose not to have the breakfast for two at £60 which we thought on top of the price of the room was extremely expensive.

Incredible stay in a stunning place.

Beautiful room within a gorgeous property in a fantastic location. Facilities were incredible and it really blew us away. Own court yard which was nice to soak up some sunshine. The pool, hot tub and sauna area was absolutely exquisite. Most definitely the best place we’ve ever stayed and will go back for sure.

The room felt a little crowded with a lot of items with no space to open suitcases etc. Would have loved the option to use the pool facilities in the morning before we left.

The property was absolutely beautiful. The set up of the hot tub, sauna and pool with the fairy lights was very special.

It would be handy if there was a small fridge in the room. Unfortunately the room next to us was arguing and shouting from about 4.30am, but obviously that is of no fault of the hosts and appreciate there is nothing that they could do about that.

Would highly recommend, worth a stay!

The decor of the property is beautiful in every area and the bedding was super comfortable. It was also very clean and tidy.

The only thing I would change is that during our spa access time, people having food in the pods were coming in to use the toilet. Felt a bit uncomfortable in my bikini with random people in and out.

I booked two nights away for my husband and I. We wanted to be away from our busy life in London and have a spa break. We booked the ocean room. The room, bathroom and toilet were clean and smelt amazing. The mattress, duvet and pillows were comfortable. The temperature of the room was good. We slept well and woke up well. We had a small patio with 2 chairs and table which was great. The view of the hot tub was lovely and got to see the sunset. The room is way too packed with decoration. Maybe would be better with 1 table less, 1 wall deco less and a smaller clock as it made the room appear smaller than it is. Could have more sockets around the bed. Mirror was too high in the bathroom, slim wall mirror by the tv was not great as i could barely see myself well and the large mirror with a lot of small squares was not fit for purpose. (Please note this is only from my point of view). Before you book, please note that there is no breakfast included. If you want breakfast you have to pay £30 (Unsure if it is pp or for both) You get 1 hour allocated for yourself to use the swimming pool, sauna and hot tub. If you want extra hour of leisure, you have to pay £25. The owners live there, so you may see some people walking by when you are you using the leisure facilities. The leisure area is clean and tidy. If you want a drink you can press the caller for assistance, however when they allocated us 7-8pm, there were no staff at that time as they are off work. So, this can be a bit weird. There is free parking.

1. You can hear people’s business in the next room. 2. People walking by slamming doors. 3. Not enough time for leisure activities. 4. Slightly expensive considering that you are booking only for a double bedroom with no meals and 1 hour slot only for leisure.

Enjoyed two nights at BlackBarn, very calm, peaceful and surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Tv in the room needs to be higher and the remote didn’t really work. The end of the bed cut off part of the tv! Morning slot for the facilities would be lovely before breakfast. Found a toe/fingernail on the floor and a few hairs in the bed.

Private luxury retreat

Everything was amazing. The bed is like sleeping in a cloud. The facilities, site and staff are much better than most luxury hotels we’ve stayed at. Would recommend and will be the only place we stay when visiting the area in future.

Not worth the money.

I was looking forward to the private session of the spa facilities

Room had bugs and flies. No shower gel. Dirty utensils. Our private session was meant to be 8-9, but we were not alone for about 10-15 mins because there was another couple, who should not have been there. Late night there were shouting and banging for some reason. Walls are paper thin so not really ideal.

Breathtaking

This place is absolutely wonderful, the decor is unique and the surroundings are breathtaking. They go above and beyond when it comes to the details of your stay. We met Lorraine she was lovely and we could tell that she really cared about what she was offering. The pool, hot tub and sauna in the evening were amazing it looked jaw dropping and it was so relaxing. We had afternoon tea on arrival and let's just say there was nothing left as it was too good. The decor had homely finishing touches that you don't get if the hosts don't care or have become too lazy. I would 100% recommend you give this a look as I can't praise it enough :) thank you black barn :)
