This beautiful 36 acre mountain retreat at 9100 ft, offers every amenity imaginable and would appeal to the dreamer, the artist, the writer, a family or a group of great friends looking to enjoy fresh air, sunshine, and solitude yet only short drive from Telluride Mountain Ski resort, a world class summer & winter destination.
“Eagles Nest” offers breathtakingly beautiful 360 views of the Uncompahgre and San Miguel Ranges and sights as far as Utah. Enjoy your morning coffee on the expansive wrap-around deck surrounded by ponderosa pines and aspen trees while watching the humming birds buzz, and the eagles catch the thermals. During the day, depending on your season, enjoy a day of hiking, fly-fishing, rafting, snowshoeing, cross country or downhill skiing, or just reading a good book and then relax your muscles in the 8 person hot tub just off the deck. In the evening, while watching spectacular sunsets, delight in cooking a gourmet meal while feeling the crackling warmth of the Irish Waterford wood burning fireplace set between the 8-foot picture windows in the cathedral ceiling living room. Finally, gaze, in awe, at the million star-filled sky that can never be adequately described. This is truly a destination in and of itself to let you leave the world behind and fill your mind, body and soul with all the beauty of a Colorado mountain retreat.
And even though you will feel a world away, Telluride Town and Telluride Mountain Ski Resort are only 30 minutes away, where you can shop, downhill ski, dine in world class restaurants, or see a movie at the Nugget. With summer festivals (film, wine tasting, music) almost every weekend, and winter skiing that is second to none, Telluride is a world class resort with an old mining town feel.
Our home offers 4 bedrooms (1 king and 3 queen) plus one extra queen sofa bed in the 3rd floor observatory that comfortably sleeps 10. We have two full baths, an open living room, and dining area that seats 14. The enormous deck also has ample seating for dining as well as a stainless steel barbeque, chairs and stone coffee table.
If in winter, you can enjoy snowshoeing, with 8 pair of snow shoes for your use and you can start your “exercise” right outside the door.
If in summer, enjoy some of the best fly fishing on the San Miguel river at the base of our access road. Or take a hike on the wildflower filled Mesa. The sky is truly the limit!
If you are a long term renter and have to do some work, the house is has two desk areas, a fax/copier/ printer, and WiFi. When you are done with work, you can relax to your favorite surround sound music, watch Satellite TV, or a DVD.
Other Amenities include dog friendly environment, regular road plowing, and backup generator so you should never be without power.

The house was fully stocked with what we needed to make our stay at the home functional and easy during our vacation. The views were remarkable and each bedroom was comfortable and stocked with pillows and towels. The filtered drinking water was great to keep our water bottles filled up. Would recommend this home to others who want a centrally located home to stay in!

I was a bit worried that the mesa would not be as pretty as the surrounding mountains—I was terribly wrong. The drive up to the property and the views from the deck were awe inspiring.

We rented Eagles Nest for a month to explore Colorado and escape the Texas heat .The location of this property was exactly what we had hoped for however the condition of the home and grounds was extremely disappointing. Upon our arrival the maids were packing up and leaving so we thought great the house is freshly cleaned ! Multiple problems were frustrating to say the least. First and foremost the entire back deck was filthy with debris piled in various areas , trash was on the ground over the deck and it looked as though there was no expectation of renters being at the property. To continue the pantry and refrigerator were full of opened foods that were outdated. This in-turn caused a rodent problem and by day 3 we had bought mouse traps sealed up holes in the pantry wall and trapped a total of 5 mice that had been eating food in the pantry and pooping throughout the house!
We also dealt with technical problems with the television the service and the Sonos music system all that failed completely.
Multiple lights were burnt out in upstairs bath and bedrooms as well as the lighting system over the dining area did not work.
Continual reach out to the property owners was frustrating and often took some time to get a response. They did have a property manager that came out to address the mechanical issues a new tv and direct tv equipment was ordered and put in place as well as work done on the Sonos system. The property owner did refund us an amount due to these issues which we appreciated.
The outdoor grill had two propane tanks that were practically empty . Multiple windows are in need of repair/replacement due to hinge and locks not working properly. Other issues included an extremely small shower for the master bath, no bedside tables for any bedrooms or window coverings.
It was frustrating how we had rented this home for a month and had so many issues that were basic upkeep and all should have been addressed by the owners/ property manager prior to our arrival.
The beautiful location on Specie Mesa-was the saving grace. We had some wonderful day trips out which again is a plus for Eagles Nest location to Telluride Ouray Ridgeway and more. Beautiful drives and hikes we will always treasure the memories we made with our family.
We hope many of the issues we dealt with can be addressed long term for this property . In closing we have travelled worldwide and used VRBO many times over the years and have never had such issues.
