About this house rental
Welcome to our quiet corner of Gwynn’s Island!Walk to the beach, relax in the backyard, ride a bike, kayak, or book a fishing excursion; there's so much to do here. The home is clean and stocked with everything you need for a relaxing visit. Drive 10 minutes to Mathews for great restaurants and shopping, or an hour to Yorktown, Jamestown and Williamsburg. Come relax and enjoy some Island Time with us!
Located in a rural coastline, the stars come alive and almost appear within reach on our part of the Island. This beautiful property has been in our family since the 1950's when Scott's granddad bought the property. Granddad would bring his children and camp on the property on weekends. They enjoyed boating and playing over on the beach. Now that this peaceful haven has been passed down to us, we hope others will enjoy their time here just as our family has over the years.
This home is at the end of a private road which offers a quiet getaway. Starlight Inlet is a spacious, updated manufactured home that offers two bedrooms and two full baths. The open floor plan living/kitchen area has a cathedral ceiling, offering lots of light and a roomy, airy feeling. At one end of the home there is a large en-suite bedroom with a queen bed offering a memory foam mattress with down topper, plenty of storage and large bathroom with a garden tub. A smaller bedroom with a full bed offering a memory foam mattress with down topper and plenty of storage is at the other end of the home and is beside the second full bathroom. Both bedrooms and the living room are carpeted. All linens, sheets, blankets and towels are provided and washed fresh for each guest.
The living room has a sectional sofa, leather sofa, coffee table, and entertainment center. There is a 45" television with FireTV which includes free access to Netflix, Disney+, Hulu and many other free movies and shows, Xbox One with plenty of games, and fast WIFI. The Xbox plays Blue-ray and DVD movies.
The full size eat-in kitchen has a full size refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, toaster, Keurig, and sink. Plenty of glassware, plates, bowls, silverware, cooking pans, etc. There is a table with four chairs. We provide all paper products: paper towels, napkins, and toilet paper. We always make sure there is coffee pods, creamer and sugar available and there is usually salt, pepper, and some spices left over from other guests.
Just inside the back door is the laundry area with washer and dryer for your use. We have laundry detergent available for you.
Outside in the shed we have a full size Weber charcoal grill with charcoal and lighter fluid provided. There is a picnic table, table with chairs and umbrella and a fire pit with 4 chairs. Wood for the fire pit is provided. There are cushions for the dining chairs. You can also relax in the hammock. Out front there are two Adirondack chairs and chairs on the front porch for you to enjoy your coffee in the morning as the sun comes up, or a beverage in the evening while star gazing. Four adult bicycles are located in the backyard beside the shed. Cycle around the Island or to the beach!
Our dock, located on the property, is available for your use. The dock is located at the end of Kibble Creek and is great for launching a kayak or canoe. We have 5 kayaks for guest use or bring your own. We have two chairs on the dock and it is nice to just sit on and enjoy a cup of coffee. There are two community beaches our guests have access to that are only a 5 minute walk from the cottage. For your use also are several beach chairs and bag chairs.
Our maximum length of stay is 7 nights with a 2 night minimum. House rules include no pets, no parties, no smoking and maximum of 4 guests.
You have access to the whole house, the dock and the shed. Our guests have access to the community beach that is located within walking distance of the cottage. There is a nice backyard. If you bring your kayak, canoe, or bicycle there is plenty of room for them. Please note that we and guests from our other cottage also have access to the dock which is on this property. We've asked our other quests to respect your privacy when crossing the property.

There are tons of antique stores and historic sites within an hour's drive. Writers or artists will find it to be a quiet place to work or refresh and explore new ideas.

When we saw the property on Vrbo we had some doubt about what we would find when we got there. The property is a single wide trailer. We took a chance and booked the property. The bathrooms were a little small, my daughters are tall woman. I was not sure about the window air conditioners but they were fine. All was fine. We had everything we needed at the property. Close to the beach and they provided towels, umbrella, and chairs. The property was clean and neat. We would book again. BAP

We almost passed on this gem because of what the outside looked like, but read the reviews and decided to take a chance. We are SO glad we did! The house was very well stocked and the owners made sure to make it feel like home. We’ve never stayed in a place that had toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, coffee…and the list goes on and on! We will definitely be back!

Comfortable home , well decorated. So much is provided for guests. Great quiet location. Easy walk or bike ride to the beach. Launch a kayak right from the dock on the property.

good access to .Kibble Pond.You can sit out next to the pond.Kayaks and bikes were great.Xbox available for kids.The area has very little public beach access to plankatank river. Mostly private beaches.
